Description
One thing that I have learned from my platform and community is that parenting styles vary so much in every country. It seems to me that in the United States, we have a more stressful and fast paced type of living which trickles down to our children. That’s why I am so excited for this episode about parenting from an expert on the subject, Iben Sandahl. Iben shares the philosophies that many parents in Denmark have. I think you’ll see why it’s voted one of the happiest countries in the world. Iben Sandahl comes from Denmark and is an internationally-acknowledged public speaker, psychotherapist and best-selling author of The Danish Way of Parenting. She is also the co-author of Play the Danish Way with Jessica Alexander and is working on publishing a new book as well. She also works as an educator who wants to offer parents an alternative to high-stress modern parenting. Her goal is to equip parents with the tools and knowledge to raise confident, happy children. In this episode we discuss: How parenting has changed in the last few decades Reasons why you should stop saying the phrase “be careful” What a typical day in the life of a family looks like in Denmark The difference between a fixed mindset and growth mindset Strategies to create healthy boundaries with your children Resources: The Danish Way of Parenting, by Jessica Joelle Alexander and Iben Sandahl Play the Danish Way, by Iben Sandahl Connect with Iben Sandahl: Iben's website Instagram: @thedanishway Facebook: @IbenDissingSandahl SHOW NOTES: lynzyandco.com/motherhood-meets-medicine-the-podcast/ Connect on Instagram @motherhoodmeetsmedicine.
