Amber shares all the ins and outs of becoming a therapist, including getting a masters in social work, the supervised hours needed to practice (and finding a supervisor), the difference between a psychotherapist and psychiatrist, practicing therapy as an empath, building a private practice, the pay, and finding your specialty. About Amber Murphy: Amber is a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of chronic pain, women’s issues, anxiety, and depression. Amber pursued extensive training at the Pain Psychology Center in Beverly Hills and has spent most of her career treating the intersection of pain and anxiety. Amber uses neuroscientific pain education, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy and compassion to empower her patients while relying on an interdisciplinary team to fully surround her patients with support and care.
