Description

This week on the show we have Dr. Daniel Peart, a Senior Lecturer in American History at Queen Mary University of London in the UK. Daniel is the author of Era of Experimentation: American Political Practices in the Early Republic and Lobbyists & the Making of US Tariff Policy, 1816-1861. The latter was awarded an Honorable Mention in the British Association for American Studies 2019 Book Prize competition. His current project is a book on the development of the Speakership of the US House of Representatives from the First Congress to the Civil War. Part of that research has already appeared in an article in the US Capitol Historical Society's newsletter The Capitol Dome (no. 55, part 2), which you can read here.
