Today we bring you another international episode, featuring Marcel Halma, the Global Director of Public Affairs & Government Relations at Nouryon. Marcel started his impressive career as a diplomat in the Netherlands at the age of 26. From there, he held various positions in government and the private sector, and has been with Nouryon since 2018. Nouryon is a global leader in specialty chemicals. Nouryon is a relatively new name, but it has a stunning 400 year history in the field - it was formerly a part of AkzoNobel. It has over 10,000 employees that operate in 80 countries around the world. Marcel graduated from the University of Amsterdam with a minor in economics and a Masters in American Studies and Political Science. At the age of 26, Marcel’s dream of becoming a diplomat came true. Marcel spent roughly the next 15 years as a diplomat He then went to Brussels as Head of Communications of Minister for European Affairs Frans Timmermans After leaving government service, Marcel worked in the private sector for the next several years In 2018, Marcel joined Nouryon, where he is now the Global Director of Public Affairs.
