Description
Adam Day is a folk singer, photographer, and freelance creative director in Austin, TX. In his 20’s, Adam moved to New York City to pursue life as a professional musician, and unwittingly built a career in marketing and technology. Today, he continues to play music across the US, helps produce podcasts (like this one!), and is the creative director at Amplify Marketing: a boutique creative agency that works with the world’s top pro-audio brands. He’s passionate about storytelling, creativity, and the complex beauty of the human experience. In this episode, Adam gives you a behind-the-scenes look at his process of editing this podcast, and we talk about our work together. We also go deep on creative work in general, digging into topics like procrastination, failure, identity, and what to do when you’re at the crossroads of giving up on your dream. Adam talks honestly and opening about the many years he’s spent trying to make it as a musician, and we discuss the often arbitrary and fickle nature of what’s considered “valuable” in our society. We also talk about depression, and Adam shares stories about the people and resources that helped him to overcome the darkest period of his life. I absolutely loved this conversation with Adam – he’s so honest and wonderfully self-reflective – and I think you’ll love it, too! (more…)
