Description

For the ninety-fifth edition of the GeoGearHeads The Bad Cop and DarrylW4 tackle a range of topics (mostly from the audience). The new GeoGearHeads YouTube channel was the topic before we started on the meat of the show. Please head over to subscribe and check out all the old shows. First was feedback from scrapcat about her blog post from last week's show with our tip for getting the degree symbol (°) on iOS. Next was a follow-up by f1drivr about his question from GGH090. We pointed him to the "Report a Map Error" link from Garmin. wanzong emailed about a couple topics – information on filtering logs on Geocaching.com and questions about WallaBee workflows. [Team D]Benignsource connected through Google+ about a question he saw on CacheFace. We went through the hardware (WAHOO KEY, Lightning to 30-pin Adapter, PROTKT BIKE MOUNT & CASE FOR IPHONE 5/5S), software (GeoBeacon), and a live demo of using a Garmin Chirp with an iOS device. Sh@rpey asked via Google+ about shows for caching with an Android smartphone or iPhone. Check out "GGH Beta.13: Smartphone Caching I," "GGH Beta.17: Android Apps I," "GGH 056: NeonGeo," and "GGH 070: Geosphere 3 Tips & Tricks" as some good starting points, but there were several other shows with good information for smartphone caching. The Upgrades to Intercaching (featured on GGH075) were mentioned before moving on. Rich Owings's excellent "Good satellite days and bad satellite days" article was the subject of conversation for several minutes and a good, quick read for geolocation users. Next was a brief conversation about the new Garmin tactix GPS watch. Finally they suggested those interested in smartwatches check the "Fragments of time: the wild, messy state of smartwatches" article from the Verge. The live video session from this Google+ Hangout On Air can be found on YouTube.
