The Betrayals That Lay Beneath
Introduction
The ease of betrayal that you display, the blatant disregard within you, as you execute it so nonchalantly, speaks volumes about the condition of your soul and the contents of your heart.

The Betrayals
That Lay Beneath
I dove… or maybe I just fell,
as I tried to escape the betrayals that lay beneath.
They cast a glow of sorrow and rage,
as I struggled in desperation
to halt their descent into the abyss.
My hands slipping, faltering,
losing their grip.
I thought I was so strong.
How easy it was for you,
as you backed me against the wall,
as if I stood in front of the executioner,
waiting to see the destruction of me,
my heart, my soul beating
out of rhythm, out of tune,
struggling to break free
from all of your betrayals
that lay beneath the surface
of your blackened soul
and shattered heart,
your rage unhinged.
And now I walk away.
I choose to leave you
and your disgrace.
I hope that one day
you will lay claim and take responsibility
for all of the betrayals that lay beneath,
the tattered remnants
that are now nothing more than waste,
the result of fate undeniable.
You lost me.
But that’s okay.
One day you will see me,
and you will regret your actions.
It will be too late.
I hope you will be comfortable
with the betrayals that lay beneath.
I Miss The Sunlight
I miss the sunlight… you said you would bring it.
I miss the way the light would illuminate the darkness.
The furthest recesses cannot be touched
as I wander through the shadows,
searching for memories.
Though today, the sadness and the heartache don’t seem as heavy…
even the mist brings some comfort.
I miss the sunlight… you said you would bring it.
Even a newly born rainbow needs the sun.
The perfume created by the wildflowers yearns for it,
and faces caught in the shadows crave it.
I miss the sunlight… you said you would bring it.
As you brush my cheek with your fingertips
and promise the world will never end;
for us, though, the world never even had a chance to begin.
How sad.
I miss the sunlight… you said you would bring it.
Along with all the promises never spoken,
yet you always failed to keep.
I miss the sunlight… you said you would bring it.
At The Edge of
The Waterfall
We encountered each other
at the edge of the waterfall…
A standoff long in coming.
I had hoped we could resolve this.
I was mistaken.
At the edge of the waterfall,
I knew this chapter would come to a close—
though not in the way I wished for.
Tattered dreams woven in chaotic thoughts,
waiting for the flames to burn out…
How I wish they would grow cold,
though I craved the heat
as my blood turned to ice
and eternity continued to rage.
We lost each other
at the edge of the waterfall…
No retreat, no surrender,
no compromise,
no bending of wills,
no realization
that this never should have happened.
This never should have happened.
I lost you
at the edge of the waterfall.
You
