CHAPTER 52 I'll Never Hurt You

Apphia POV

He will realize I'm useless to him and will want a better mate who will not fear being touched and will benefit his pack.

'Nicholas is not like that jerk. He loves you, and he will make us happy. He knew all along that we were mates, but he has been patiently waiting for you to feel the bond,'   

Nicholas knew all along we were mates, and he waited. I glance at him, and he's watching me with anxious eyes. I can hear the pounding of his worried heart. Is he scared I'll reject him?

Slowly, I raise my trembling hand and gently stroke his strong jawline. He leans into my touch and kisses my palm.

I've got you, Apphia. I'll never hurt you, he whispers, his sapphire blue gaze locked on mine.

I've got you. Those simple words brought me more comfort than I thought was possible. I nod, standing on my toes, and kissing him gently. He sighs in relief as though he was holding his breath the whole time.

He pulls me in his arms and kisses me, pushing his tongue in my mouth. I lock my arms around his neck, kissing him back.

I shake my head, embarrassed to answer his question. How can I tell him that when he touches me, I keep hearing my assailant's voice, and feel his touch on my skin? Nicholas keeps glancing at me, waiting for a response.

I need some time, I murmur, rushing into the bathroom. I lock the door behind me and sit on the floor, back against the door. I hold my knees. I feel tears stream down my cheeks, and I hold my mouth to prevent a sob from escaping me. I get up later when I hear the door to the bedroom open and close and take a long shower.

When I leave the shower, I find Lily standing in the bedroom doorway.

Hey, sweetie, she calls. She seems worried.

Hi, I breathe, going into the closet. I grab a knitted dress and wear it before walking out. Lily is sitting on the bed, and I take the sofa across. Shai appears and jumps on my lap.

She's cute, Lily purrs.

Yes, I grunt in agreement. 

Apphia, are you alright? The princess finally asks what's on her mind. Did Nicholas say something to her?

I found out that Nicholas is my mate... I start. The look she gives me shows that she knows- they all do. But Lily, I'm a mess, and he will reject me, I cry.

She sits beside me and hugs me kindly.

No, you're not a mess, and Nick won't reject you, she coos. Do you want to tell me what happened?

Apphia POV

When I opened my eyes early in the morning, the first person I thought of was Nicholas. He is my mate! I clutched my chest. 

'Meow,' my cat purrs. I smile and caress her fur gently. 

Good morning, beautiful, 

'Meow,' 

I get out of bed, and to my surprise, my senses are more transparent than ever, and I can still feel Ziora. I thought she'd have left again, so I didn't want to hold hope.

'You're back for good,' 

'I'm sorry for leaving you. I didn't mean to. I was trapped, but I'm free now,' 

'Just don't go away again, please,' 

'I won't,' 

After chatting with my wolf, I slid off the bed, and walk towards the spiral glass table where a fresh bouquet and a note awaits me. I smell the pink flowers and read the note.

Good morning, my mate. I hope you had a lovely night.

Mine wasn't great because I missed you.

Something about these flowers and notes brings life back into me. I head to the shower. After my shower. I blow-dry my hair and brush it. I wear a linen black button dress with a V cut and loafers on my feet. I apply pink lip gloss on my lips and blush my cheekbones as Lily taught me. Satisfied with my appearance, I leave the bedroom, and luckily, I meet Drake on my way downstairs. 

Good morning, my Luna! he beams, smiling from ear to ear. And then it strikes me: I nearly lose my balance as the culmination punches me. Nicholas is the alpha of the most powerful pack in the world, and I'm his mate, meaning I'm to be Luna. The thought is terrifying!

Your mate is in the sunroom on the second floor. He seems to be in a pleasant mood, he replies. 

Seriously, you couldn't tell me? I thought we were friends, I pause, scowling that he didn't tell me I was mated to the prince.  

It wasn't my place to say, but I'm glad you know, 

I nod slowly, understanding, and go past him. I'm now getting used to living here so I can find some rooms without getting lost. Most importantly, I can smell Nicholas. I follow his wholesome, earthy scent. It's like a string is leading me to him. I take the stairs two at a time, Drake urging me to be careful. 

Moments later, I find the sunroom. It is vast and lovely, with a tall ceiling and walls of glass showing the beautiful green scenery outside. There is a colossal u-shape sofa that can fit ten adults, and before it is a sizeable oak table decorated with fresh lilies. 

I notice all the royal family members are here. Nicholas talks to his father in the far-left corner while Knox and Lily chat on the sofa. Emilia and a cute boy with golden blonde hair play chase on the breakfast bar while Lady Anaiah and baby Luelle watch them. 

I take a deep breath to settle my nerves and step inside. Nicholas catches my scent, and his body stiffens. He slowly gazes at me, his face unreadable. I stand still, feeling awkward and out of place. 

He approaches me carefully and kisses my cheek, taking me by surprise. 

My dearest, Apphia, his husky voice makes a chill go through my body. 

My heart strikes when he greets me with a gorgeous smile. I return his smile with relief. So, he's not mad.

Morning, I squeak, nervous. 

The whole family comes together in the center of the room, all looking at us as if waiting for an announcement. I can't help but shrink; they are so intimidating and gorgeous. Nicholas moves closer to the me to offer me comfort, but is careful not to touch me. I feel pain course through me, and Ziora winces. I scared Nicholas yesterday.

My gaze roams around briefly once again. I notice a lovely older couple. The man has black hair and blue eyes, and the woman has blonde and hazel eyes. They are smiling at me, too. 

Ladies and gents, I'm happy to re-introduce you to my mate, Apphia Aeson officially, Nicholas says. Cheers erupt through the room, and Anaiah hugs me tightly. I squeak a little. 

Anaiah, you're suffocating the poor girl, Uncle Leondre says. Lady Anaiah chuckles and pulls away from me with an apologetic stare. 

I smile at everyone. Nicholas introduces the older couple as his grandparents, Mike and Clara. They are delightful. 

Finally, my grandson has found his soulmate, we are very pleased. Welcome to the family, Apphia, Grandma Clara says. 

T- thank you, I say shyly.

Tea and biscuits are served a few minutes later, and everyone converses. Aunty Anaiah wants to host an introduction Luna party for me. She is very excited about the ceremony and talks about it. 

When do you think we should host your Luna party, Apphia? she asks.

Is it necessary to throw a party? I frown. 

Of course, you are the Luna of the Sapphire royal pack, and you need to be introduced as one. Not everyone can come now, but ranked members need to know you, Lily explains. 

When do you think is the best time for the party? 

I think tomorrow evening, Anaiah answers with a smile. I only nod to agree. 

I discreetly leave to stand up to speak to Nicholas as the ladies discuss the party. My mate is talking to Blade and looking through a blue file. They both glance at me and close the file. Blade smiles at me and bows, Good morning, Luna, and excuse me, I watch him leave us and join the rest for tea.

CHAPTER 54 To The Mall!

Apphia POV

I want to talk to you, I start timidly, unable to look him in the eye. He exhales and tilts my chin so that I'm facing him. About yesterday when we were getting passionate. I'm sorry for how I acted, I say, blushing.

Everyone has dispersed and gone on their busy day, and I'm left to my thoughts as I wander around the garden. The day is brighter today, and the sun is peeking out through the clouds with a light breeze.

We enter an unfamiliar wing, and she pushes one of the massive doors open. My breath hitches when I discover my mate sitting before a mahogany desk. He gets up and walks to me in three long strides.

Before I can answer, Vicky does. Yes, we just need your card to go shopping. My mom took mine away,
