This is happening for you to start to wake up and for you to remember how awesome you really are.

    PREFACE

    Why did I write this book? When I went through my most recent breakup, I became obsessed with trying to make sense of what had happened. I was crushed and missed what we had so much that I couldn’t focus on anything else. The pain I felt was unbearable, and I felt very alone. I was trying to understand why this was happening. I was beating myself up about what I should have done, how it should have happened, how I acted in the relationship, what I disliked about me and him, what I could have done better, how I wanted to be, and how it all unfolded. I wanted a redo, but the worst part was that I knew it was me who needed a better version of myself.

    I realized the hard way; we lose people when it is time for us to shift, heal, and grow. I realized that the lesson was for me to wake up.

    I knew only I could help myself. No matter who was there for me, I had to be the one to live with myself, my feelings, and my thoughts, and I knew something had to change.

    I was using the outside world to fill my emptiness, to erase my pain, insecurities, and lack. I knew I didn’t want to live my life solely for
