Introduction
Vladimir Lenin was a Russian revolutionary who lived from 1870 to 1924. He was also the first leader of the Soviet Union. Lenin was born in the Russian city of Simbirsk, the third of six. At the University of Kazan, where he attended school, he became interested in politics and social justice. Later, he went to school to learn about the law, but he never worked as a lawyer. In the 1890s, Lenin got involved in revolutionary politics and served as one of the leaders of the Bolshevik faction of the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party. Because of his political work, he was sent away several times to Europe, where he learned more about communism and Revolution.

Lenin returned to Russia during World War I and took the chance to lead the Bolsheviks in the October Revolution of 1917. He got rid of the temporary government that had been in charge after the Tsarist regime fell, and he was the first leader of the Soviet Union. As the leader of the Soviet Union, Lenin made some changes meant to build a socialist society. He took over the factories and gave the land back to the farmers. He also set up a way for the workers to run the factories. During the Russian Civil War, which lasted from 1918 to 1922, he led the Soviet Union.

In the early 1920s, Lenin had a series of strokes, and his health quickly worsened. He died in 1924 when he was 53 years old. Joseph Stalin became the most important person in the Soviet Union after Lenin died. He carried on Lenin's work of building a socialist state. He was a great strategist, a
