TEF Canada Writing & Speaking - NCLC 7 at first attempt - Jean K. MATHIEU
Forword
Dear French learners,
I’ve helped thousands of students to pass successfully the TEF and I can tell you that despites the difficulty of French language, there is a way to score higher at this test.
Knowing a lot of vocabulary or grammar doesn’t mean that you will get a good score at the TEF exam. You should be ready to take the TEF. Therefore you need to know what the examiners expect from you. They don’t expect you speak fluently however they want you to know some required skills for the level you pretend. This is what I'm going to share in this book.
This book will help you to get the extra points to get the score you need and ensure you can apply successfully for the Express Entry program if this is what you need.
The most common issues according to my experience:
1. A lack of self-confidence. French is not easy, when you learn you make many mistakes and it doesn’t feel good. Moreover, because you are afraid of making mistake you often choose to not speak. That’s most learners problem, whatever the language is. If you avoid facing reality you will not give yourself a chance to improve.
2. No clue about what to expect. Even though you know the instructions for the exam and the existing resources online, it’s hard to know exactly what to expect. Especially if you take this exam for the first time.
3. Speaking practice. The speaking part is usually the hardest. You have no time to prepare and you have to learn how to think on your feet. It comes with practice and getting extra points is easier than you think.
This book is about useful tips and techniques to help you with these issues. I’m confident this will help you to be prepared and even more will save you time and energy in the process. If you follow the tips and practice with the topics and examples provided in this book you can reach the NCLC 7 like many other successful candidates.

• 2 sections
• 1 hour

SECTION A : Tell a story using past tenses. Short newspaper article (min 80 words)
SECTION B : Express your point of view and present your arguments to defend it. (about 200 words)
Basics and Examples
SECTION A
What you should do:
You will have to read the beginning of a news article. You have to continue the article by adding at least 80 words.
Add at least 80 words to continue the article.
Write at least 2 paragraphs
Finish the article on a positive note
Example :
SECTION B
What you should do :
You are going to read a sentence taken from an article. You must write to the newspaper that published it to express your opinion (agreement or disagreement) and justify it with arguments. The text must be at least 200 words.
