The Stars and the Struggles for Life - Apollo Perez

    hapter One

Many years ago in the night skies of our Solar System, a Planet was seen to have collided with a large asteroid and started its destruction. Everyone knew Its orbit would affect our Planet and this would start our own destruction.

Time was not on our side as the people saw all this destruction would start to affect our lives within the next ten years. The news was not made to the public until weeks before the impact of the asteroid in the night skies. After the impact, the Science Teams claimed the asteroid was bumped out of its orbit due to a massive accumulation of bodies and gravity creating a swing and push effect and the Planet passing close by was caught in this Gravitational Imbalance Dance.

It would take nine years or nine orbits before getting impacts of their debris and eventually all three Planets would meet on the same orbital plane. The meeting point would happen on the next few orbits after the start of the impacts. All life was predicted to end that year.

The news media reported that the science teams were working on different models for our survival and preparations.

More and more discussions were about our next venture in space and everyone understood that we had to prepare and not lose our heads on this.

Our people were well prepared for Space Travel. We were traveling to the nearby Planets for years but the problem was that none of the Planets in our system could support life. We had colonized a couple of Planets only in life pods with small colonies in domes and some were on these Planets. We had many Stars close by with Planets in Solar Systems but our search was beyond the Great Gas Nebula in a different direction where there were promises of life in three Planets. These three planets were reported to have abundance of plant and animal life and water with good air.

I was ten years old when I first read the complete history of our people and where we came from. I learned that we came from a different Solar System on the other side of the Nebula and this is the story.

My Great GrandFather wrote his life’s story and then he wrote The Book Of Life in this same book. I learned that he knew about me and that I needed this Book Of Life to help me prepare for my Struggle For Life as we went through the Stars. This was very disturbing as I read his story because this was very personal. This Is The Story, as I read on.

The plan was to assemble three very large Scout Ships and cross the vastness and through the edge of the Gas Nebula and go another stretch to reach the first Star. The three planets were on the first Star System and some more planets even farther past.

My Great Grandfather was chosen to pilot the second Ship with the Captain being his close friend. The three Scout Ships were carefully assembled and carried a crew of 200 and another 200 as scientists and their families. Total of 493 were on the list on the second ship.

As time passed and the months went by, the weather kept changing and the assembly of the much larger Transport Ships was getting more and more difficult. At one point, the skies and the weather got to a very stormy to hurricane type and the construction of the ships would come to a stand still. Work would continue inside but the outside was moving very slowly. On a good day, work would go at a very fast pace with a lot of progress. Plant life, water and livestock were carefully selected and controlled and placed in every Ship to monitor its results. Any non productive results were changed because in Space, we would make do with what we had.

The selection of who goes first was a great problem. There were not enough ships to make the voyage and return for more. The round trip would take almost two and a half years or just under 2 1⁄2 years but only if the Ships would unload and return after being there only a week. This was impractical but lives were depending on the Ships returning then making a second then a third trip then possibly a fourth. Also there were more Ships being built so the trips were essential.

The three Small Ships were only Scout Ships and were not able to carry enough and were only to make a quick selection to a safe landing sight, to unload close to a body of water and a large flat field. Three Ships going to the three Planets with the large Great Ships just a few months behind ready to go to the best sight selection.

There was another problem, there could be no other intelligent life form or beings on the Planet for this would create a problem or a dispute or worse, a war. We had not been in any war as far back as we can remember, we were always able to agree on life and the ability to find a mutual agreement and coexist and work for the same purpose in our whole Planet. Our beliefs are also in sharing and trading commerce to progress. Our beliefs were centered on all life being sacred with no one having a right to take another. In the frozen planetoid, an OutPost was being expanded to accommodate more people for those that cannot make the fourth trip. The fourth trip would be anybody left because by that time our planet would be destroyed.

Our Planet was also not over populated at all. This Planet was considered small compared to the other Planets. The first of three Scout Ships were on their way and two days later the second and three days later the third left for the Stars. Something nobody discussed was the possibility of the three Planets not able to sustain life. The Gas Nebula made it difficult for any probe, manned or unmanned to make any corrections or to view these Planets through mega telescopes. Once, not long ago, one of our scientific Ships made it past the Nebula but had problems and returned and that’s when the discovery of the first three Planets were made, they made a quick survey but did not get close enough to make long range positive scans.

Ten years before the Great Disaster, we did not have the technology to build large Ships and certainly the development of the New drive System but now we could and the Ships were made for quick travels but not tested for long sustained voyages. The fourteen months one way was easy to make but five years or more were too much without stopping for repairs. The New Gravitational Drive Systems were fully tested and they were pressed into service with new ideas coming up.

We were also testing the new drive on the smaller Vixen Ships but it was not perfected as they were still using the old way of Wind Resistant Dynamics when they entered the Planets atmosphere. They were pressed for time as we did not have much time left to get off the Planet. How can you evacuate a whole Planet in ten years! Not possible but it had to be done or you would not exist past ten years Life settled down on the Scout Ships as they headed for the edge of the Great Nebula. The second Ship was traveling at a great velocity but the voyage was a long one. The Nebula was bright red and purple with gas expanding out to the far side and not this side of the Ships path. Everything was planned out and there were no problems on the radioactive waves. After three months on the voyage, news came that there were problems on the launch of the first of the Great Ships.

There were ten Great Ships under construction and the first one was already loaded as it was finishing construction and it was now under way. The problem was that it was too heavy and most of the occupants were unloaded and made a quick commute to the Space Platform and reloaded. This was the steps to be taken for all Ships. The delay was understandable and hopefully the only one to set us back. The next problem was on how the Ships would handle a fully loaded Ship to safely descend to the Planet surface there. Also there would be no equipment ready to unload, and the equipment would be needed and ready for use after the first landing.

Also there was no Space Platform to unload people or Ships to Transport people to the surface. Three months is not enough time to scout the Planet, survey and establish a landing site and prepare some facility for the thousands of people and then the millions of people in months to come. The three Scout Ships were traveling and were keeping in touch with each other. The Great Nebula was growing larger and larger and they did not know as to what extent the Nebula would affect the Ships.

These new Ships would be able to handle any situation, or that was the belief but as to reality! Nobody knew. This new Gravitational drive system was working really great as we could travel faster through the bubble we were creating in front of the Ship. The boundaries were being pushed as the new idea of the Hyper drive system was being developed, it was to push the Ship through the bubble and bend the fabric of time and suspend you as the Ship moved along. This was the next step in development of the Drive Systems in the near future.

The crew on the second Scout Ship were on duty for six hours until the next shift and would be on standby the six hours before they were to go on shift again. There were four, six hour shifts and all was going normally. The scientists were always busy with the voyage and the close up on the Nebula. Life was always calm and the study of the Stars was interesting and with the settlement of the neighboring inhabitable Planets made it a challenge but now! The scientists were in full motion as they were thrust to make a decision on our very existence.

People were stepping up and coming up with new ideas and suggestions and things were progressing at a faster better rate. The best people were going first, to prepare for life and construction and setting up structures. A belief was that, if you do nothing but work for yourself and your progress, you were set to the end of the line, because we wanted people to stand out and come forward and do for others as a team. My Great Grandfather made the list of pilots because he always wanted to expand himself, to become better, and stronger. His belief was to progress and prepare for those that were coming up. He put himself before everyone in order to clear the path for others.

He was chosen to lead because he was the perfect example as to the kind of people we were looking for, and he was a good pilot. Others knew the type and mind set and were quickly shaping up. Being the first, it was known that they had to get it done and so they were considered Warriors and the settlers were called colonists. The scientists were always called the scientists and the construction workers were called builders and they had their categories. Last of the group were the laborers, and they were the lowest of everyone. The idea was not to be a laborer but to become a builder.

Funny thing is that on the three Scout Ships, there were no builders or laborers but only Warriors which included

Engineers which made up 80% of the ship’s crew. The others were scientists and the other 10% were Officers, we didn’t understand. Our Ships were only made to handle 500 and we were full. Everything we had, had a purpose, and we had our hands full, every man had more than one job to do and more after that. We did our homework everyday on our way through the Stars. All three Ships were in contact and we all coordinated our efforts and plans as to what to do.

My Great Grand Paw would go to the cargo hold and go through the shuttle crafts and ground rovers and make sure he knows everything about them. He was also an accomplished mechanic and always thinking ahead and looking for ways to improve things. Something that not everyone thought about was the possibility of running into some kind of aggressive animals or even people. Great Grand paw got a group of personnel and equipment ready for any kind of ground action, always thinking ahead.

Entering the Nebula, all the systems started to fail. Propulsion stayed on line but navigation, tactical, scanners and many other systems were fluctuating. This was reported from the first Ship and the second and on the third. Each of the technicians worked heavily on the problems. These problems were reported from long ago and were never addressed, until now. The pilots were just piloting their Ships by the seat of their pants. Nothing serious was happening but it sure scared everyone during the few hours on the edge of the Nebula.

It was at these times that Great Grand paw wrote down the importance of the awareness of all conscious minds and knowing the inner workings of technical systems and not only their workings but building better systems and keeping up with technology. My Grandfather and father passed this writing on down to me but I thought not only of this but past this and adding more. The three Ships passed the Nebula and all

systems started coming back on line. The Ships were all going in different directions as they left the Nebula but quickly made course corrections. Once again, all three Ships settled down for the trek.

The scientists were all still busy with the back side of the Nebula and processing all its data when they went through. Slowly everything started to sink in as to why they were there and what they were doing. Their families and friends were still back home and in a few years, the Planet would be destroyed. Their jobs were so important and their success was more important for their existence.

Everybody on the three Ships started to realize this and acted respectably. We all knew that our lives were of no importance but our actions were, for everyone coming over after us. All the technicians started working on monitoring our propulsion and speed and my Great Grand paw was hard at work with them on his off time. He learned and studied and improved and made systems to make the Ships better. As time went by everyone was as ready as can be, to survey the Planet they were assigned

This was not enough, everyone thought we had this down Pat but No, not Great Grand paw, he went beyond that! He thought, what if what if the other Ships needed help, a problem or major disaster! So they started a scenario on the problems. And this was not enough! He thought what if one of the Larger Ships needed help? And so on, we had a plan for anything and we all knew what to do in a moment’s notice.

This made our search and survey of the Planets much easier and quicker and more precise with no delay. He had all teams work quick and fast with the big picture in mind. The three Ships were now half way from the Nebula to the Star System. There were two Star Systems with many Stars and Planets in the distance. These distant two Stars had Planets but it was the near Star that we were interested in. The next Star was really far away and the others were really too far away but it was good to know we had others to look forward to. There was also a new Nebula that was beyond the far edge of this new solar system and this was disturbing. The first Star System had five Planets and they looked like they could sustain life really well. The first Planet was the destination for the first Scout Ship. The second Planet was the second Ship and so on was the third. They all selected the proper Planets and started as many scans as possible as they got closer.

The three Scout Ships set course for each Planet and set off to their selected Planet without hesitation. The middle Planet seemed to have the best possibilities of life and the Planet was making an orbit that would come towards our direction and be closest when the first Large Ship arrives. My Great Grandfather set up the shuttle crafts to work with the Scout Ship to detect any hazards or gasses and to boost scanners. New systems were set up on the crafts to boost signals and enhance scanners. The Scout Ship was getting closer to the Solar System and calculations were made to make a quick arrival. The Sun was nice and yellow making the Planets looking really nice but the second Planet was looking blue. Long range scanners revealed two small moons and the atmosphere was looking promising on this second Planet.

They lined up to swing around the back side and swoop to the far side then orbit the Planet. Everyone got positioned in their shuttle crafts and equipment but the main shuttle craft was going to be piloted by my Great Grandfather. He was also piloting the Scout Ship into orbit so everything had to be timed right.

The third Scout Ship, which departed to the Third Planet was to arrive much later. This Third Planet had more deadly asteroids in its area but was swinging around towards us and showed great promise. The Scout Ship would arrive one month later and we were very optimistic. There were other Star Systems further away past the new Nebula so we knew there were many explorations to do. If we could just have a little time to evacuate our old Planet to this New System, we could have a big chance in securing our Future.

So far we were moving at a good pace and we all hoped our Planet’s End would not come any sooner. We wanted time to evacuate everyone before our Planet met its Doom.

Our people prepared the Planets and the Ships started arriving and departing then arriving again with second and third and fourth loads then the dome places and our old Planet was evacuated just in time. Our old Planets destruction was recorded and it was sad to see a good Planet get destroyed by its Sister Planets. We moved on and started settling in our new homes in this new solar system.

The view from Planet B was spectacular during the night skies! Looking towards Planet E and the Nebula and a Milky looking Galaxy in the background made me reach for the Stars more eagerly! I prepared myself and the Institute made it possible.

    Chapter Two

Fifty years later the second Planet, which was always called Planet B or just B was mostly populated, Grand Paw was forty and my father was born. This is when our Great Institute and our Academy were born. The Great cities were being populated and life was flourishing and then the Planet was being further explored. This Planet B was much bigger than Planet A and the Planet we had just come from. My Great Grandfather had a hand in building the New Cities which were built into Hubs. The Center had the Great Hubs with the Main Buildings in the center and the most important building also at the center.

A year later Great Grandfather passed away but not before writing his Great Paper Book for me and for me to pass on. In this book he wrote, how to live and prepare for your Future And For Life. He wrote this Great Book especially for me and he fully intended for me to read and follow this book carefully. I have been following this Guide Plan and his Ideal Plan of Life only because it is, in my opinion, as the perfect and only way of life and I plan to pass this on to my children hoping they will also find this as a perfect guide of life as I found it, thanks to Great Grand paw! My Grandfather did not follow his fathers path as a pilot but found time to help in the Great Shops for rebuilding most of the moving equipment used for development of this Great New Planet. He knew of this Hard Cover Book Of Life but did not put great faith on it because he thought it did not fit his lifestyle. He always heard of his fathers ways and thinking of enlightenment of our minds and his exploits and was proud of his accomplishments but he never thought he could ever come close to becoming such a person. My father always followed his father and helped him whenever possible but then years later he followed his own path. My Father became good friends with people that knew of his grandfather’s exploits and offered their help in a position in life. But he settled for a position in Provisions Distribution. This was a good position and my father was good at this. He was always in good company, with good people but he was always rushing off to some event or new project and I was left with the kids of these same people.

I was 10 years old when my dad was going to one of these projects and he sat next to me. He saw that I was visibly disturbed at his leaving me as he always did. I had plans to attend so many Educational events and then he was leaving me here. He thought that this was the time to show me this book that his Grandfather told him to show his son. He told me to open to page two and there it was, this book is dedicated to me! I started to read this book which taught me the history of our people through my Great Grandfather’s eyes and the history of our family. A few days later I was okay with my fathers travels and way of life because it taught me my Direction.

Two months later my GrandFather passed away at age 65. I found out later that he refused treatment for some illness and chose to go his way. He asked for me to be there but my father could not bring me to him so my Grandfather sent me a message. My Father felt really bad that he could not bring me to his father and I think this action led to my fathers not caring about his own well being. While going to a conference, his shuttle systems went off line and made an emergency landing just short of the Docking Pad and into the sea. He helped everyone get out and headed back to rescue the last person which many said this person was beyond help but my father was not sure so he went back and never came back out. To lose my GrandFather and days later to lose my Father, it made me realize that my Direction was clear. My path is to be made with no family influence present but my own and This Great Book. My guide is from my Great Grandfather’s book. I can remember my Grandfather telling me to follow my own instincts and my father telling me to use my best judgment but my Great Grandfather wrote down this message, his message to me. I think he knew that his son and his grandson would not give me the best guide to life so he took it upon himself to reach out to me and give me this Guide to Life himself in the form of his book Guide to Life. I always referred to it as The Great Book.

When I first read this book I took it to heart because this history was not biased but truthful in every way. I felt his presence here next to me and could hear him as I read page after page and at night, as I slept, he was here explaining what I had just read. I was 10 years old and did not have a family. My mother died when I was a year old and now my Father and Grandfather left me to continue life on my own.

My Great Grandfather wrote that I should always turn disadvantage into advantage and be gracious of having what I have. I looked around me and discovered that all the kids left behind by the working fathers and mothers were of my age. In particular, there were eleven kids that were really close to me. There were thirty eight kids in our group but us twelve were really close, only because our parents had the same jobs and traveled together. The other kids were lucky to have their parents every weekend. We called ourselves The Group, us twelve. I had the best times here at this age and group.

There was a girl in our group, her name is Lea. We became best friends and I saw her afraid so I decided to stay close to her. At times I saw her so scared and so I decided to stay close to her, maybe because I too was scared. She seemed to accept my company and we became very close. We always stayed together, ate together and stayed and slept in the same room together and when the lights went out, we would sleep together. We were the first ones before the group. Her father saw us together and he said something to her about me but then he died one day when he visited an irrigation plant and a barge came apart, she never found out the real truth. Lea and I were always together after that, as far as I can remember and our group knew we would always be together.

During our Education Time, we would go outside to the park and we ran from tree to tree just playing around. We would sometimes run long distances and I loved it. This was an individual effort and I would excel but only because I could use the feelings of elevation and mind control. My friend Rick, our group’s other leader, and the rest of our group would try to keep up but they would all fall back but Lea would use a different tactic. She would pace herself then slowly pass the group and soon found herself close to me. That made me grow even more fond of her and we always stayed close.

When we ate at the eatery, we prayed but the group always wanted me to say our prayer. Religion was not really part of our beliefs. It was slowly replaced by our own belief that we create our own Destiny when we work with the true belief in our inner strength, and that we create our futures by what we emanate today. Our Prayers were for our own Good Fortune and the Fortune of those we cared for and to set our day, each day. When we went places, the group listened as I asked questions then figured things out and then I would tell the group how things worked and how it benefited our society. Most of us were always trying to find what we wanted to do in life, that is what everyone was taught, but we all knew that we wanted to be together.

Someone asked me if being a Military person would be the best way and I answered, only if we wanted to be always moving, but that we would always be going to danger areas. I had my own ideas about my life and Lea had also read my book so she knew that my future was almost set and she was going with me. Something about Lea, even if she knew that she was following me, It still seemed that I had to hold her hand.

She once told me she was following my family’s ways, even though she knew this was meant for me.

The group’s idea was so different and they seemed to want what was not possible and out of character! Their idea was to work together or in the same proximity, then 30 to 40 years later, to retire in the countryside and enjoy life. I could see that they were disturbed by their parents absence but Lea and I knew we had to move on and excel with this society. I did not tell the group but this was not my idea of retiring to the countryside! We were also taught that you needed to choose a field then continue expanding yourselves and rotate to better positions in the same field. I wanted to expand myself and to do this I could not be with the guys but I didn’t think anybody would be able to keep up with me except Lea.

You would have to choose a compatible field then pace yourself then follow me to keep up! That would require you to choose a profession that would work with what I do if you wanted to keep up. My direction was not all that clear yet, but I was educating myself and I was always checking our expansion to the Planets. At first I thought about perfecting Ships Navigation Systems then it was about incorporating this with Propulsion. This was Great Grand paws way but I was still studying this!

I kept trying to steer the group to their ideas and keep them safe and suggested keeping the families ideas and staying in Distribution but they were all into Maintenance. Not operating but in constructing them. I don’t know where that came from. Our ideas were way far apart and they seemed undisciplined, undefined and I wondered where they were getting these ideas. When we would get together I would ask for opinions and they left it to me but later they would change it and again I don’t know why they did this. I once thought there was an underlying leader trying to change their direction but it was just a thought.

After our Education Time I would always access our progress in our Expansion to The Planets using the available systems and make my determinations. The group is always wondering what I am constantly looking at, I would look into the Military and what they would do during our expansion and how fast our technology is expanding.

One thing that is always a constant is Technical System Technology. Computers systems are always used at whatever you use. I tried to teach the group or to introduce them to the world of Systems Programming. This did not work as they all wanted to see equipment operate and to improve or to build and construct new equipment. I see that they are always coming back to this. Do I see a pattern in this! Then I was trying to find a direction for Lea. I fought with this idea and she did not give any advice or suggestions to her ideas and concepts.

In this equipment idea, they thought I was perfect to lead them into this field but Lea thought they would build them and I would program them. Nice idea I thought, but this was not my way of life and expansion! To just sit there and program equipment was not enough for me, but it was a start! That was simply not me, or not enough for me and my future. But that was a nice idea! But if only I could sell the group on this concept, in this certain direction because this was close as to what I wanted and in my Direction and we could kind of be close or in the same area of concept.

We were 12 years old and us 38 kids were at the point of determining our direction. We went to the Big Center where all the kids would gather for this and we would speak to the future about our Direction. The Director came to our area and wanted a speaker to stand and represent our whole group and nobody stood up. I stood and asked for some back ups but Lea was the only other to stand. I asked many times for a back up leader and I knew our guys had someone they always seeked out besides myself but he never revealed himself.

I became our true leader and everyone in this group accepted me. I studied this position and learned how to see to everyones wants and needs. I would study and ask so many about our position and which way they thought we should go. I asked about desires and concepts of workings and study but they left it to me. I was allowed to continue and I spoke many times for the group. I was always talking about our expansion and what we could do for our people, everything I spoke was about the people as a whole! My ideas were about coming together as a whole and pushing forward as a team.

This was my topic of conversation at our Education Time. Several older kids would speak then I was to speak to the kids and to start our paths that would eventually be our Future. Several of our kids spoke but they all talked nonsense or did not speak well and only spoke of their own benefit, this was not good. I used my Grandfathers Ideas and spoke about expanding ourselves individually then as a group, my Father also spoke of being sure of yourself and proceed after your goals but the greatest contribution was my Great Grandfather.

My Great Grandfather did not set his own goals but he went out and achieved and made sure everyone else achieved goals they set. His main idea that he drilled into me was setting my Personal Direction and Proceeding using my mind and establishing the boundaries expanded to my growth He told me that if I set my Direction and pushed onward then there is no Goal to Reach! You’re always Perfecting yourself and you know where you’re going! You can’t lose Direction because Your Direction was set a long time ago. He wrote all these down as an example of how to live life and he made sure I received all these ideas and examples. I used part of this in my speech.

I, at my age, could only plant these ideas in these young minds but where I wanted to go, none of these kids could follow! Except one! Lea was Smart, and was eager to Charge Forward in this, New Life, this new Direction and she knew I was the perfect Person to Follow. She knew there were no obstacles, no barriers that I couldn’t conquer. Lea also knew so well what I was taught, that what we emanate these moments is what we will get back. What we send out, being thoughts or words, emanate out into space and come back sometimes many times more! But I could not teach this to the others, I honestly thought there was someone or something that kept getting in
