About this ebook

Tess Whitney, a rich daddy's girl, is drifting through her life, trapped in the shadow of her family's immense wealth.

Unhappily engaged to a European playboy, whom she suspects is cheating on her, and needing time to think about her future, she escapes on a spontaneous trip to her family's remote lake cottage.

There she finds herself entangled in a series of steamy misadventures—at the mercy of a horny tentacle monster, long rumoured to live deep within the lake. Naked and adrift in a sinking life raft. Rescued by a rough, young fisherman who turns out to be more than he seems. And in the company of a compelling but controlling older billionaire, who offers her a new, carefree life. But at what cost?

(Oh, and she's naked the whole time.)

    -Fresh Prince

When Tess Whitney returned to her condo, she tripped over the loafers her fiancé, Stefano, had carelessly discarded in the front entrance, causing her to spill her mocha latte on the marble floor.

    For fucks sake.

When she’d left that morning for her spin class, Stefano had still not returned from being out the night before.

She headed to the kitchen, where she discovered his sports coat crumbled on the floor. A thick odour of cigar smoke and cheap perfume assaulted her nose when she picked it up. She went through the pockets. What have you been up to?

She pulled out a crumpled pack of European cigarettes, a wad of twenty-dollar bills, and a glass vial with the remnants of cocaine in the bottom. She also fished out a ridiculously long receipt from a downtown gentlemen’s club. (Of course he kept the receipt. In his profession, it was considered a business expense.). She dropped the jacket and its contents on the granite counter, poured herself a mineral water with ice, and went into the living room.

He had left an empty cereal bowl and a half-full bottle of beer on the glass coffee table. The end of a smoked joint was crushed in an ashtray. The large flatscreen was on, looping a cut-scene from Call of Duty.

She moved through the room, past the floor-to-ceiling window, overlooking the park twelve floors below, to their bedroom. She stood in the doorway, a silent witness to a sorry sight.

Her fiancé’s head was buried under a pillow. He had pushed aside the cover and sheets and was sprawled naked across their king-sized bed. His pants, dress shirt, and tie were scattered haphazardly on the floor.

Tess plucked an ice cube from her glass and launched it at his bare back. No response. She tried again, this time aiming for the crack of his ass.

Humpherrrm. Stefano pulled the pillow tighter to his head.

I texted you, she said. I thought we had plans.

From beneath the pillow, she could just make
