    CHAPTER I

The Land of Oz Eighty Five Years Later

This adventure tale begins at dusk, in the small town of Munchkinville within The Land of OZ. Fireworks with brilliant colors exploded into the night sky, beginning the nightlong joyous celebration known as Dorothy Day! It was Dorothy Gale who had freed The Land of OZ and its inhabitants, the Munchkins, from tyranny and slavery eighty-five years ago to this day! Dorothy is their national heroine. She single-handedly killed their nemesis, the Wicked Witch of the East, as well as her evil sister, the Wicked Witch of the West!

All the town folks were having a great time playing games, singing, dancing, eating, drinking, and rejoicing. Part of the celebration included the town folks performing in front of their beloved King. The performances included jugglers, clowns, animal acts, and many more. After the performers were done, the children gathered around King Jerry. They came to listen to his story of long ago, when witches and warlocks were alive, wreaking havoc, destruction, and evil all across the land.

King Jerry, affectionately known throughout The Land of OZ as, The Lollipop Kid, was one of the very few Munchkins who witnessed the deaths of the two evil witches. King Jerry is one of the last survivors from that era of time.

(Back in 1939, when Jerry was merely just a Munchkin and not a King, the good witch named Glinda asked him to perform and sing to Dorothy, and welcome her to Munchkin land. Munchkin Jerry sang his famous Lollipop Song. At the end of the song, Jerry presented Dorothy with The Lollipop to the City. That’s how Jerry earned the nickname, The Lollipop Kid.)

(Munchkin Jerry was credited with the planning and the execution of the deaths of both of the evil witches. Immediately afterward, he was covertly captured by the evil forces, and sentenced to a lifetime of imprisonment without any chance of parole. But with the help of two fellow inmates, Jerry was able to dig an underground tunnel and escape. Upon his arrival back in Munchkinville, he was greeted with a hero’s welcome. He was nominated to become King and began his reign that same day. King Jerry has been King ever since.)

King Jerry climbed up a three-step platform leading to the stage. He was holding under his arm a dusty but otherwise well-kept leather briefcase. From it, he removed his ninety-seven-year-old Lollipop, hummed a bar or two to get his ninety-seven-year-old voice in tune, and began to sing his Lollipop Song. It went something like this, I represent the Lollipop Guild, the Lollipop Guild, the Lollipop Guild. And in the name of the Lollipop Guild, I wish to welcome you to Munchkinland!

Everyone in earshot rose to their feet and applauded the King. The crowd went crazy. When the noise subsided, King Jerry took a long drink from a glass of water and began to tell his treasured story. He wanted to make sure that his Kingdom never forgot the witches and the evil spells that they cast on the Land of OZ and Munchkinville.

MEANWHILE, not far away, a few of the teenage Munchkins refused to stay and listen to the King’s tales. They decided to sneak away from the celebration to do some night fishing. The group of teenagers included three boys and two girls.

The oldest in the group is Andrew, age seventeen. He is an expert inventor who likes to look at the positive side of life. Next comes Mia, age sixteen. She is a pretty, sharply dressed cheerleader, not afraid of taking chances. Then comes Scottster, who is a mature fourteen-year-old Munchkin. He loves hunting and can knock the hole out of a donut with his bow and arrow. He always carries a rope around his neck. He wants to own and someday drive a Porsche Boxster when he gets a little older. Puff, a male twelve-year-old Munchkin, is slightly overweight and loves munching on munchkin cookies. Puff will do just about anything for cookies. Before danger approaches, he always goes into a sneezing fit. Last, but not least, is eleven years old Allie. She has a magical Siamese cat, named SarCat. SarCat is very devoted to Allie follows her everywhere, and keeps her out of danger and harm’s way. Allie named her cat SarCat, because whenever he meows, or speaks, he usually does so in a sarcastic manner.
