About this ebook

Some customers are just a little weird…

Working the night shift at Kenny's diner can be a little dull. There aren't many customers and those that are there tend to be a little strange. Kathy vaguely remembers being curious and interested about working her shifts several weeks ago. But now everything seems dull, she can't imagine why she found this job so interesting. She can't even remember what about it was interesting.

Then some of the weird customers start acting even stranger, if she didn't know better Kathy'd swear that one man was drinking from that other man's neck…

It May Be Tasty, But it's Still a Bad Idea - Gretchen S.B.

    Acknowledgments

THANK YOU TO MY EDITOR Lacie at Pelican Proofing, you made this book readable for everyone.

Thank you to T.M Franklin for giving this book such a wonderful cover.

As always, thank you to my friends and family who cheer me on as I work toward my dream of being a full-time author.

Last of all, but not least, is the Hubster. Although he hates to be mentioned, he deserves credit for all his support.

I'd had several boring jobs since my first gig working retail at seventeen, but working the night shift at Kenny’s took the cake. It was weird, because I’d been here almost four months and I found it less interesting than I did even a week ago. I used to be interested in each shift, curious if something strange would happen. Now, I couldn’t remember anything strange ever happening, yet I couldn’t shake the memory of expecting something interesting. The last week or so I'd tried to come in with an open mind, tried to renew that interest, but it didn't happen.

Occasionally, we had interesting customers. There was a rotating group of very short people who came, in and were always very polite. There were people who ordered a foul-smelling drink every time they came in and nothing else. Another regular was the man with a creepy smile who simply ordered coffee and sat in a booth for hours. His smile indicated he knew something, something sinister and Mac, the cook, told me to leave him alone as much as possible. Then there were these biker guys who were super hairy. And some regulars who didn’t speak, only pointed, and grunted. So, while a little strange, nothing you wouldn't expect from a 24-hour diner.

There was this joke that 24-hour diners were these spaces where anything could happen. So far, all I'd seen was sleep-deprived people, people who were a bit weird, and teenagers looking for a place to go. Nothing more.

Right now, we were semi-full. There were three tables of those foul-smelling drink people, all next to each other but they didn’t seem to talk to each other around the booths. There was a table of those smaller people who ate so much sugar. I wondered if they’d
