About the Author
Bra
‘Oh my goodness!
It is still here!
He left it again...!
Shit!
Disgusting...!
Nonsense...!
Nonsense son of a dead age...no nono, I can no more bear the burden of such a nonsense. I am tired of him...disgusting...! He will not change; an unchanged old father of the tradition. What will I put on now? This is a different evening, a special evening after all. I have to join the program; after all it is a grand cultural festival of my college...’
Shilpi was mumbling standing by clothesline. She did not know what to say but she looked furious and her angry lips could not but stopped for the moment. She was sweating like the fast runner of a race. She looked confused and stood there for a few minutes like a defeated angry cat. She closed her eyes for a while to cool her mind. Many a times she does this when her anger she feels, she is going beyond control. But a strange thing happened to her when she closed her angry disappointed eyes for a moment. An angry Giant seemed approaching to swallow her fainted self. She at once opened her eyes and looked at the cloudy sky. The giant dark bleak floating clouds appeared at battles with each other. Thunder and storms too were ready to roar like an angry giant. Many small pieces were running away far and far in fear of the ongoing battles to the western sky. They seemed helpless and unable to be free from the clasp of the giants. She saw how they collapsed into the mouth of the hungry giants like wounded soldiers of the war front. She felt as if she was herself sailing away like those weak, small and helpless pieces of the clouds but an invisible rope tied her up to be defeated, ravaged, ruined and lost in an unknown direction of life. A few minutes passed in awe and fear under the helpless sky. She woke up from her temporary drowsiness when a few drops of tears fell upon her cheeks and drenched her eye lids. She stepped to the balcony slowly and looked to and fro. She did not know what to say him. She hurried to the next room and began shouting...
‘Nonsense...! Idiot! Bloody fool!
Unfortunate I am! What an unfortunate woman I am?
This was the best match for the Dhakai Jamdani Sharee. I shouted from the gate time and again before stepping to the road for my college. I expected he will... but he left today again!’-
Shilpi expected the attention of her husband from the next room. She was roaring like tigress at her husband but he appeared as cool as the water of Dal Lake. She thrust the front door and hurried to the backyard. She wanted to take out the partly drenched deep maroon Bra hanging from the clothesline but left it there in fury. She walked again fast to the door of the next room and shouted...
‘Could you not hear me? I shouted from the gate. I shouted...!
Can you hear me? Don’t be silent. This is your smartness. I want to know, did you not hear my voice. I shouted from the gate...’ She asked in a single breath.
‘I heard,’ replied Arunava with a very deep voice.
‘Why did you leave that in the clothesline?’
‘That! What is that? What you mean by that?’ he asked like a stranger...
‘Don’t try to be smart. You know very well what I mean.’
In a state of fury she pushed the wooden Chair he was sitting. He looked at her as if he saw first time such an angry woman. He lost his voice for the moment. It was an awkward situation for the first time he faced. He sensed how fast his heart was beating. This made him much confused and didn’t know what to do. He took a long breathe after a minute’s numbness...
‘I don’t know, but! Why are you shouting?’
‘You bloody fool, don’t you know that? You are trying to be smart again. Tell me first why you left the Bra in the clothesline? I shouted from the gate again and again when I stepped to my college. Nothing was unknown to you. After all you collected all other clothes. You know very well how important this evening is to me. Intentionally you only left it. What is your problem?’ she growled again
‘The fucking woman will not spare me until I beg excuse to her. She is going to enflame this silent evening with such an unexpected scene for nothing. Go to hell. I will have to make an excuse to tame this quarrelsome angry bitch else that will go on barking.’ He mumbled in his mind
After a moment’s silence he replied...
‘Yea, I have problem with that. Never tell me to collect a woman’s, inner garments like bra, panties... I can’t... I told you earlier too. I am not comfortable with these things. But!! You don’t care to listen to my prayer. Try to understand my situation. I don’t feel comfortable with such things. Next time never expect such help from me.’
‘Hmm! I understood! But you have no problem with my nipples; am I right?’ She asked in a low voice
‘Don’t talk nonsense. I don’t want to hear you,’ he replied in a deep voice and left for the veranda.
‘Nonsense! ha ha ha...Nonsense! Don’t you think you are a prophet of nonsense...’she shouted in fury. ‘Don’t you? When you unhooked that bra last night; didn’t that bother you?’
‘You rubbish, stop talking... Just stop talking shameless bitch.’
‘Bitch! Shameless! Ridiculous... ha haha! I am shameless. You are gentle descent fellow of this modern world ha haha! A gentle descent man who suckles boobs in the darkness but says he does not taste the breast milk...how funny this is. Just funny! I can’t help laughing. You people don’t have any difference. At heart you people have same colour. In the darkness of the night you all have the same face but by the rising sun your true colour is visible. To you I am like a pillow of your bed. Your tongue walks upon my nipples, moves from one breast to the next, often bits the pores of my skin and gets into the secret hole of my thighs. I never stopped you. Even felt shy to touch them but my Bra! You are ashamed to take it from the clothesline. Didn’t you get bothered while you ran your tongue in my vag last night? Didn’t you? Ha haha,’ she laughed...
‘I say stop talking. I don’t want to talk to such a dirty bitch. Don’t come to me. Don’t talk...I don’t want to talk to you this evening. Leave me alone...please leave me alone,’ he roared
Ha haha! I know, no more you can...no more you can bear the burden of a bitch... but its honey is sweeter than anything else. The darkness of the night, helpless bed and the silence all know how you taste its sweetening nipples. When you kiss its lips like a hungry baby and walk in its body sweating like a man in race, don’t you get ashamed of its Bra, are you not bothered by the lipstick of the bitch? Do you remember how you fucked the bitch first day, how you tore its bra strap in madness; how you suckled its nipples and drank the juice of love; how your fingers played upon my breasts, how they touched upon the downy hair. Do you remember how your tongue tasted the smell of my pussy in madness and how you were panting while suckling my pussy and I was lost in the bubbles of love and sex in madness. I forgot then that man can sometimes be the worst beast and I see now such a beast living with me in the form of man... ‘
‘Stop talking, I say, stop talking nonsense, bitch of the season...’ he roared again in fury and walked away to the club where he spends his leisurely hours with the neighbours.
Shilpi stood like a decayed pillar of an abandoned temple. She saw the shadow of a man walking away far and far to the West. She looked at the western horizon how slowly being drowned by the evening. Her eyes fell upon the sky and saw how a dove was flying above silently cooing alone and looking
