A WORD OF THANKS
I would like to thank my husband Doug and my friend Cindy for their support and ideas when writing this book and also for giving me the input and proofreading that I so needed. I would also like to thank my Mother In Law, Gloria for her wonderful ideas and her words of encouragement.Thank you all so much, without you this would not have happened. With much love, thank you.
INTRODUCTION
In this book I will help you to understand the basics of Cricut Design Space and the tools and mats you will need to complete your projects and help you understand what the terms mean and how to use them. This is not a book on how to start a home business, although there are plenty of those on the market for cricut users. When I got my first Cricut in 2014 I got the Explorer Air. I thought, no more buying expensive greeting cards, I will be able to make them myself and save money. Boy was I wrong. I opened the box, made the project it came with, made a few cards and said Now what
. There were no videos or books that I knew of and quickly got frustrated and put the machine back into the box where it still stays to this day. I had decided to get the maker to help cut fabric for the quilts I make and told my husband that is what I would like to have for Christmas. We both compared the machine I still have and the maker I wanted to see what the better option was for what I wanted to do. We both decided the maker was far better. I watched video after video and bought a couple of books and found the videos left steps out and did not go into a lot of detail into what each term meant and what it does and most of the books concentrated on making a home business using the Cricut and not so much on Design Space. So, I did some research, lots and lots of research and found everything I needed, and wished I had that information in 2014. The maker is not sitting in its box and is being used quite frequently. My friend wanted to buy a maker and I told her I would help her with anything she needed. That is how this book came to be. She suggested that I do this since she said I am learning more from you than the videos because they are leaving out steps.
which is what I found to be true. I had to watch three different videos from three separate people to learn one thing. I thought this was crazy. Why not put everything in one video if you are teaching someone how to do something. If this is your first Cricut or your second, Design Space can be intimidating, but once you know what each thing does it is easy.
