Mustang Buck
A long time ago before horses were thought of as pets, transportation, or workers there lived wild horses. These were the days before Indians, cowboys, and modern civilizations of any kind, where wild horses were wild and free. In the high desert, mountains near the second Grand Canyon, there lived a wild mustang named Buck. Buck was a dominate male mustang for a herd of wild horses. The herd ran wild and free from mountain range to mountain range, lakes to rivers, and rivers to oceans and seas. Bucks mustang herd was one of several thousand horses. Being the dominate male of the herd Buck had many jobs and responsibilities. He would help all mares that had foals give birth. He stood guard day and night at all hours to protect the herd from any and all predators that are in the wild. Buck was more than just a father or leader he was the direct link for survival for the whole herd and the generations of wild mustangs to come.
Buck had to be sure that plenty of grass was around to eat, if not he had to find more before the grass ran out. Buck had to be sure
