EVER since I started hunting small antelope in the Mossel Bay area in the latter part of the sixties I have been fascinated by bushbuck – the dainty brown ewe and the fierce and beautiful black ram. In the early seventies I transferred to the Eastern Cape where I worked closely with the farming community stretching between Komga and Alexandria and I was soon invited to a driven hunt in the Peddie area. I attended the hunt with a borrowed Sako in .270 Win where I managed to get a beautiful ram and so started my love for that black ram – which grew to include the Jack Russell terrier and the .270 Winchester.
