Prelude
Welcome to Sip Happens: A Crash Course for Gen Z & Millennials
! This book is all about wine & hospitality, where wine wisdom meets witty banter, guiding you from amateur sips to connoisseur tips, all while being a minority in an industry that's often seen as stuffy and white.
Let's face it: the wine industry isn’t exactly known for its diversity. In Sip Happens: A Crash Course for Gen Z & Millennials,
we’re going to pull back the curtain on an industry that has, for far too long, been shrouded in mystery and, dare I say it, a bit of elitism. We’ll guide you through the fun, approachable, and downright delectable world of wine, tailored specifically for the younger generations.
Because let’s face it – we’ve got better things to do than listen to some crusty old dude drone on about the finer points of Château Lafite-who gives a fuck 1982 vintage (although I’m sure it's lovely). But that doesn't mean we can't have a good time and make our mark. In fact, as Millennials and Gen Zers, we have the power to shake things up and make the industry more inclusive and welcoming for everyone.
And that's what this book is all about. We're going to explore everything from the history of wine to emerging trends in the industry. We'll learn how to select, serve, and pair wines properly, and we'll even talk about the role of cryptocurrency & artificial intelligence in the future of wine.
But most importantly, we will do it all with a sense of humor and a no-holds-barred attitude. We're going to be honest and unfiltered, and we're not going to shy away from discussing the challenges of being black in a predominantly white industry.
So please sit back, pour yourself a glass of your favorite wine, and let's get started.
