    Playing Blind - Melissa Bell

    CHAPTER 1

H onestly, Keith! You do realise that being blind does not make a person deaf, dumb or stupid. Of all the people that should understand, I thought it would be my brother.

Sis, this is the first time you’ve ever lived on your own. I don’t understand why it’s such a big deal for you. We are happy to have you stay. Just because Carol and I are getting married, doesn’t mean you have to move out.

Oh, what and listen to the newlywed’s fuck like rabbits? I don’t think so. I like Carol, for you, but I’m not looking to replace mum. I already have you. When she was asked what she thought of it, she’d lied, simply saying it was a very interesting piece of art. If Charlie didn’t love her brother as much as she did, she would have asked Carol if it was an ashtray or a paperweight. The ugly ornament was now sitting too close to Charlie’s bad temper. She snatched it up off the table and pulled her arm back like her father had taught her when she was ten and she’d been learning how to throw a baseball. She swung her arm forward and rolled her shoulder towards her brother, using the sound of his movements to locate him in the room.

Charlotte Cassandra Graham! Don’t you dare! Carol bought that for me, Keith yelled out.

She didn’t have the chance to complete the strike, so instead, she used her sharp tongue, "Oh,
