Research And Development Of A Secure Mobile Software Ridesharing Application For United States Military And Department Of Defense Employees
()
About this ebook
To increase production of mobile applications that are available for United States (US) military and Department of Defense (DoD) employees to use on networks that require an agency issued security clearance the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency uses a brokerage system called Innovative GEOINT Application Provider Program (IGAPP). IGAPP allows commercial software developers who do not hold security clearances to create applications for US military and DoD employees operating on networks that require an agency security clearance for access. Currently the DoD has issued a Vendor Opportunity Package (VOP) requesting the development of a mobile application that will allow US military and DoD employees to use Lyft and Uber ride sharing services in times of distress such as if they are under the influence of alcohol. Currently, the DoD reports that a large number of their employees and US military personnel are suffering severe negative consequences due to Driving Under the Influence (DUI) arrests and need a mobile application that can operate on networks and in locations that require an agency security clearance for access as well as account for
vi
ride sharing service usage. This project will research and create an iOS mobile application for Macintosh iPhones by using the Swift programming language and the Xcode Integrated Development Environment (IDE). The application is capable of authenticating that it has been downloaded from the GEOINT App Store (GAS) upon startup and before running any other build code, which confirms that the app can operate on networks where a DoD security clearance is required for access. To facilitate requesting a car from ride sharing services this software is programmed to use the Lyft and Uber Application Programming Interface (API) and provide the capability for automatically sending ride logs to user defined program managers and paying for rides with a user defined Citi® DoD Travel Credit Card. To ensure that excessive DoD funds are not being used, the application compares the price and time of all available rides and presents this information to the user so that the most logical option is conveniently available.
