Servicing many multinational and some local clients Artificial intelligence companies multiply

Local artificial intelligence (AI) companies have successfully attracted global customers, such as BMW and Thomson Reuters. They provide a wide array of AI services that have a broad range of applications in different sectors from manufacturing to insurance and education. These services include content recommendation tools that help publishers boost audience engagement and search engine optimization in addition to chatbots used in customer support. The AI solutions also include face recognition technology applied in retail sales and virtual simulation which is used in many fields including manufacturing. AI companies carry out their development work tapping local talents to produce high quality services that are cheaper than their counterparts in the West, but more expensive than competitors from developing countries. Developing advanced solutions requires substantial computing power which is costly and consequently AI businesses are using a big chunk of their revenues to exploit this processing capacity. This is preventing some of them from growing especially that the country’s high risk is discouraging new investments.

Boosting the business of publishers

CognativeX provides an AI content recommendation tool that increases audience engagement and retention for publishers and content creators. It maximizes the time spent by viewers on its customers’ platform. This is achieved by suggesting content and pictures that attract viewers based on their interests that CognativeX determines by analyzing the way they use a publisher’s platform. “The recommendations provided to publishers help them increase page views and the time spent by users on their platform. This allows them to maximize monetization and attract more ads,” said Wissam Sabbagh, CEO of Alpha Technology Group (ATG), the parent company of CognativeX. ATG, formerly known as DOTCOM Group, is a holding company with subsidiaries providing different information technology (IT) and digital services. Klangoo also serves the publishing sector through its first product: ‘Magnet’, a newsroom software that enables publishers to boost lead generation and search engine optimization (SEO). Magnet offers personalized contextual recommendations and performs content clustering.

Analyzing natural language texts

The challenges faced by the traditional media industry with the rise of social media led Klangoo to introduce ‘Klangoo NLP API’, an Application Programming Interface (API) that provides text analysis services using natural language processing (NLP). “Our goal from launching this API is to diversify outside traditional media which was displaced by the rise of social media. It is used for large amounts of texts,” said , the company’s co-founder and Chief Technology
