About this ebook

Joshua has a new friend. Working in the pharmaceutical industry, he meets and becomes attracted to a new co-worker known only as Corsair.
It soon becomes apparent that Corsair is more than what she appears to be. A mere touch from her might be charged with electricity. She seems to know quite a bit more about Joshua than she should, and just one look into her eyes seems to be totally captivating.
Then, strange things begin to take place. They're things that on the surface appear to be supernatural in nature. These mysterious happenings begin to make Joshua wonder what he's gotten himself in for. There appears to be no suitable explanation.
Is she an alien, witch, or angel? Joshua is about to find out, and his life will never be the same. This ordinary man soon finds himself in the middle of an adventure that is anything but ordinary.
It's an adventure that will take him from heavenly heights to the battlefields of Hell itself, fighting for someone thousands of miles away whom he has never met before. There's a teenage girl, named Linda, in the faraway town of Pleasanton, California. She needs his help, and he doesn't even know it yet.
Through My Angel's Eyes is a fantasy, yet is birthed by genuine concerns for the safety of our children, and greater concerns for the constants in our lives, faith, hope, and love.

Author

Emery Charles

Emery Charles lives in Mogadore, Ohio with his wife Diane. He began, at first, to write short stories for his grandchildren and family members. Each story was personalized for the recipient to enjoy. Emery has worked in the telecommunication industry for thirty-six years. As a telephone technician, the day to day stories available throughout the workday proved that real life could, at times, be stranger than fiction. Emery prefers simple stories that take ordinary characters on extraordinary adventures. Imagination is required. Being active in his local church for years, Emery has learned to depend on a faith in God that will carry a person through the unexpected turns in life. His sincere hope is that through this humble attempt, a person may take a look into the Bible to see all of what God has planned for their life. To accomplish the task of setting my thoughts to print, I found invaluable help from both family and friends.

The task of editing fell to the able hands of: Dr. Susan Horn, Jan Vitale, and Paula Doepel.

My long time friend, Pastor James Peters, gave timely advice.

Jessie Sullivan, and Patti Esposito, two AT&T testers from Pleasanton, California, provided the hometown touch needed.

Author, Terrance Alexi, helped me to navigate through the vortex of publishing.

Finally, my loving wife, Diane, continually encouraged me on in this endeavor. She is truly my angel, and it’s through her eyes that love can truly be seen.

    Introduction

Imagination is a wonderful thing. With it we can do anything or become anyone we want. We can become the captain of a World War II submarine, or an astronaut soaring high above the earth. We can find the cure for cancer and the common cold, or fight crime as the newest super hero on the block. Many of the inventions we have today, we have because someone at one time imagined it to be so.

Imagination can be soothing. Sometimes it’s good just to daydream and let our minds relax a little, forgetting the cares of the day. A little recess for the soul, perhaps.

Imagination can take us to great heights. Knowing no boundaries, it embraces our wildest dreams, partners with our fantasies to let us visit places we would dare not think about in our normal nine to five existence.

Imagination is a vacation spot of sorts. It becomes the out of the way road taken, with no deadlines or demands on our time. We wander here and there, exploring the inter-connecting caverns of our mind; some are dark while at the same time, other parts are greatly illuminated.

I hope this story becomes that little diversion from the reality of life we live in every day. It is inspired only by the imagination working overtime in my mind.

    PART I

    CHAPTER 1

    The Mystery of Corsair

My real name is just a distant memory. It remains, but buried in some far corner of my mind. My former life is but a wisp of smoke that floats here and there, sometimes not quite comprehendible, just out of my grasp. Yet at other times it’s crystal clear.

For the sake of this story, I’ll use the name Joshua. It’s a strong name, a name with character, and the name of an Old Testament biblical hero. I’m not suggesting that I’m a hero; it’s just a name I’ll use for now.

I’ve become involved in an extraordinary situation. Although strange at first, the extraordinary is all but normal for me now. This situation happens to involve an angel. An angel has entered my life, and things have become somewhat difficult at best to explain.

There are those I’m sure who don’t believe in angels. There are also people who would place angels only in the heavenly realm, having no direct contact with us mere mortals. Some believe there are angels watching over us; guardians, if you please.

I’ve always believed in the existence of angels, even though I’ve never had any proof of such. That’s all changed now. Not only do I have the proof I’ve never had before, but I also have a friend who has become closer than any mortal I’ve ever known.

This story begins in a rather ordinary way. I work in the pharmaceutical industry, as a field rep. One day I happened to be walking down a hallway in our home office. As I rounded a corner, I caught a momentary view of a woman with long auburn hair who promptly disappeared down a stairway. I picked up my pace to catch another glimpse of her, but she was gone. She attracted my attention because auburn-colored hair has always caught my eye since the day a seventh grade girl by the name of Carol stole my heart. I didn’t see this new co-worker for quite awhile after that.

The department this new co-worker was assigned to was a group that I had occasion to call during the course of my business day to receive job information. I talked with this new person several times over the next few months. I learned that her name was Corsair. At first she was a pleasant voice on the phone, nothing more.

I’ve always been somewhat a private person. Some would say a loner. I’m in my mid-thirties, and have never married. I’ve had opportunities, but I valued my private time more than making the one big commitment to someone special. Some would say that I’m selfish. That may be true. On top of that, anytime that I became really close to someone, she would eventually learn that I’m one who sees the glass half empty. I usually look for bad things to happen, and I’m usually not disappointed.

I was raised in a Christian home where both parents stressed the importance of church and a close walk with the Lord. I had experienced the new birth, accepting Jesus Christ as Savior in my early teens; but I slipped away from the church and its teachings as the years wore on. I still believe that the Bible is true, but life’s troubles just seemed to wear me out.

I’m dedicated to my work and appreciate competence in the workplace. That’s one of the reasons I seemed drawn to Corsair. She was good at the work assigned to her, and when I needed her help, she was always there with the correct information.

Since I talked with Corsair a lot, it was only natural that I’d seek her out when I had the opportunity to visit her building. The first time I met her face to face, I was taken aback; stunned if you will. There before me was one of the most beautiful women I’d ever seen. Her auburn-colored hair was indeed long, more than two feet in length, and it complimented the light blush of her complexion. She had large brown eyes, and her lips were like two scarlet ribbons that broke into a wide smile whenever she saw me. It was her eyes, however, that I was most attracted to. They appeared as large brown pools that you could get lost in if you gazed long enough.

I never saw the rest of her that day. I was so drawn to her beauty that I couldn’t bring myself to steal a glimpse below her neckline. I felt that I’d be perceived as checking her out. In the weeks that followed, however, I did have the chance to see her from time to time. The remainder of her body was as perfect as I would have thought. Corsair dressed with impeccable taste. She was most attractive when wearing an outfit that accented the color of her hair. A black business suit and red blouse would set the heart of any red-blooded American male’s heart a pounding.

Corsair was indeed a rare beauty. I found myself only hoping to be friends with her. I have no illusions of how I’m viewed by the opposite sex. Corsair was definitely out of my league.

As time went by, our friendship grew as we worked together. I would call in with problems, and Corsair would help with the solutions. Sometimes when I was in the neighborhood, I would stop in for a cup of coffee. After I visited with her, I found that she would be on my mind for days. There’d be times that I’d just stop in the middle of the day and wonder to myself what she might be doing at that particular time. Even though I knew I was probably becoming infatuated with her, I valued the friendship I felt was developing, and I didn’t want to ruin that.

As months came and went, our friendship grew. Corsair would go out of her way to just be a friend. I immersed myself in this relationship. I needed a friend, and Corsair seemed to sense that. She always appeared to know just what was on my mind. Over a period of time, I felt myself being less cynical about life in general. Although I enjoyed our brief encounters, I limited our visits so as not to spoil what I was beginning to
