or historical knowledge of their prominence during the Crusades. Even amid scholarly inquiry, questions about the Knights Templar, also known as the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon, abound. This book aims to address some of these inquiries, particularly regarding their lost treasure. For the questions it doesn’t resolve, we’ve curated a reference section at the book’s end to guide your further exploration.
Before delving in, it’s essential to outline what this book entails. Extensive research underpins this work; where necessary, we’ve provided footnotes for context and to facilitate your independent exploration. However, if the information is widely accessible, footnotes might be omitted.
The book is divided into seven chapters, along with this introduction and a reference section. We’ll commence with a concise overview of the order’s rise and fall, offering historical context for their operations. For a comprehensive history, readers are directed to the first volume of The Knights Templar: The Hidden History of the Knights Templar

Subsequently, we’ll delve into the Templars’ enduring legacy and their portrayal in contemporary media, indicative of the profound influence they held and continue to exert on our imaginations. Our examination will extend to the holy relics once in Templar possession, such as the Holy Grail, the Shroud of Turin, and the Ark of the Covenant. Analyzing their interactions with these priceless relics can shed light on their approach to treasures in general.
A pivotal aspect of Templar power was their banking system, which not only amassed wealth but also laid the groundwork for modern banking principles. We will elucidate this system’s significance and its lasting impact.
The crux of our exploration centers on the Knights Templar treasure. Is it real or merely another legend? Operating under the assumption that this treasure still lies undiscovered, we will scrutinize prevalent theories and speculations regarding its possible locations. The Knights Templar, initially titled the Poor Knights of Christ and the Temple of Solomon,
were established in 1120 with a modest membership of nine individuals. Proposed by the French knight Hughes de Payens, this group was dedicated to ensuring the safety of Christian pilgrims traveling from Jaffa to the interior sites of the Holy Lands. Their initial headquarters were provided by King Baldwin II in a wing of the royal palace on Templar Mount, previously part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and believed to be the original site of King Solomon’s temple. This location had a grim historical significance, being one of the bloodiest sites during the invasion of Jerusalem in the First Crusade.
Of the original nine members, eight are known: Hughes de Payens, Godfrey de Saint-Omer, and Andre de Montbard are widely recognized as the founders. They were joined by Payne de Monteverdi, Geoffrey Bison, Archaumbaud de St. Agnan, and two other knights known only as Gondamer and Rossal. The identity of the ninth knight has never been confirmed, although
