Nancy Blodgett Klein worked as a journalist as well as a magazine editor in the Chicagoland area for much of her career after receiving a master's degree in journalism from Boston University. Later on, she went back to college and earned as master's degree from Roosevelt University in Illinois. Then she worked as a bilingual teacher to mostly Mexican students. In 2016, she retired to Spain with her husband Rick Klein. They are the proud parents of two adult sons named Alex and Andy. While living in Spain, Nancy keeps busy with yoga, singing in a choir, participating in a writers group and two book groups. She also writes a blog on a variety of topics called spainwriter.home.blog.     Introduction

    If you have never been to Spain, I will tell you about some of the many treasures it has and maybe this will inspire you to go there someday.

    Spain has tons of castles and cathedrals. There are about 2500 castles around Spain and around 100 cathedrals. Cathedrals are usually much bigger and more impressive than churches. Spain also has many structures from ancient Roman times, including aqueducts that carry water from place to place and outdoor theaters called amphitheaters where members of the public would gather to be entertained. One of these Roman aqueducts will be featured in this book along with some of the best known castles and cathedrals.

    Spain was controlled by Arabs from 711 until 1492 so there are many structures with an Arabian look throughout the country, including several palaces or alcazars as they are known in Spanish. Several of these are included in this book as well.

    The weather in Spain is typically warm and sunny most of the year. It’s a country that grows lots of fruit, especially lemons and oranges. There are many olive groves and vineyards around the countryside as Spain is a big producer of olive oil and wine. Many tourists come to Spain because the weather is great and the food delicious.
