    Star Synastry - Diane Eddington

    Introduction

    Pronunciation: Stel-lee-um

Stellium is a very common term in astrology, and yet it receives very little treatment and explanation. My research found neither modern nor historical books dedicated solely to stelliums. As someone with a stellium of five planets in a single house, I was always curious to know more about stelliums and their influence on natal charts. I regularly looked for chart data and case studies about stelliums in the course of my astrological studies but found little more than a few pages here and there. Many astrology books mention the term, but very few explain what it is, and none go into great detail. So, I decided to write in great detail about stelliums so that others might benefit from my learning and experiences. I have lived with my stellium since birth, and I have studied astrology for over 25 years now, so I feel well-qualified to explain what a stellium is and how it may affect natal charts, individuals, and synastry connections.

This book is intended to serve as an introductory guide to stelliums and to illustrate the stellium for you in a variety of natal charts, but not to argue their supremacy — they are just one astrological component. By the end of this book, you should know what a stellium is, what it means in a natal chart, how to easily recognize it in a chart, and you will also have a basic understanding of how a stellium may impact romantic relationships and synastry.

The core of my astrology studies is synastry and romantic relationships, and determining how people can best select romantic partners for themselves using astrology as a guide. Many people do not believe that astrology plays an active role in partner selection, but it definitely can and does. Astrology also works passively to guide us subconsciously away from, or towards, certain people. The intersection of synastry and stelliums is something I have started to explore more in recent years, and, more specifically, whether a stellium in a natal chart impacts romantic relationships or multiple marriages in any meaningful way. This book is the midpoint of that research, and the charts contained within do give some indication that a natal stellium impacts synastry and relationship longevity. While the primary topic for this book is the stellium, I have definitely sprinkled in liberal amounts of synastry and often tie the stellium and synastry together in the example charts and explanations. The natal chart is the basis for everything in astrology, so make sure you are comfortable reading and casting natal charts before moving on to more advanced topics, like synastry.

I struggled for quite some time over how many celebrity charts to include as examples in this book; the most valuable scientific studies and research include thousands of examples to support their data and theories. However, this book is not scientific in nature and is not meant to be exhaustive or all-explanatory. This book is meant to acquaint you with a specific astrological term using examples from popular culture. The Star Synastry series is intended to be accessible, easy to understand, and to break larger topics in astrology into simplified pieces for beginners. I made the decision with my first book to sacrifice a lot of the more technical astrology content for brevity and ease of understanding. This book, and the others in the series, will resonate more with beginners than professionals. There are literally thousands of astrology books on the market that explain astrological minutia, so they will receive minimal treatment here. If you want to know the very basics of astrology or synastry, I invite you to read through my other titles in the series.

My first book in the Star Synastry series, The Power of the Astrological Conjunction, examined over 500 charts of both married and dating couples to find any significant synastry differences between the two groups. I found that marriage is predictable with a 76% success rate when certain aspects appear in synastry charts, principally the conjunction to the moon. My second book, The Top 10 Best Synastry Aspects, examined the aspects in synastry that encourage mutual romantic interest, attraction, and excitement between potential partners. The third book in the Star Synastry series explored the most challenging aspects that appear in romantic synastry, The Top 10 Worst Synastry Aspects.

I have made considerable effort in this book to update content from my earlier books to avoid repetition for returning readers. Also, please note that this book uses traditional gender pronouns, and the relationship and chart examples use the traditional male-female heterosexual model. However, astrology and synastry charts are not gender-specific and can be cast for any partner combination or gender identity. Astrologers frequently cast synastry charts for siblings, best friends, parent-child relationships, co-workers, and others. The principles of astrology are applicable to all types of romantic relationships, regardless of sexual orientation or gender.
