Inspired by my Grow Your Vocabulary Dictionary Series.
Nautical poetry, a sea-inspired art,
With words that swirl and flow, like ocean waves,
It brings to life, the tales of the heart,
And sings the song, of sailors and their braves.
It tells of ships, that brave the stormy seas,
And sailors bold, who navigate the night,
Of ocean's depth, and mysteries untold,
And all the beauty, that lies in its sight.
It speaks of waves, that crash upon the shore,
And lighthouses, that shine with guiding light,
And all the creatures, that call the sea their home,
A world of wonder, that shines so bright.
So here's to thee, oh nautical poetry,
A sea of verse, a treasure of the sea.

Nautical Poetry - Blake Pieck
Sea of Darkness
Upon the sea of darkness, roiling tides,
A stormy night doth hold its solemn reign,
As blackened waves their boundless woe confides,
To sky that weeps with unforgiving rain.
The tempest wails, a spectral symphony,
While howling winds like ghosts of sailors past,
Entwine themselves in twisted harmony,
With lightning's flash that burns but never lasts.
And as the thunder's voice, a roaring beast,
Doth tear the very fabric of the night,
The ocean writhes, a monstrous form released,
To challenge Heav'ns' unyielding, bitter plight.
Yet dawn shall break, and darkness fade away,
As hope doth steer the ship toward light of day.
Beneath the darkened sky, a sea of fright,
The ocean's wrath, with waves so high and grand,
The ship sails through, with heart and with might,
Her crew stands strong, with courage in their hand.
The storm rages on, with power so bold,
The lightning strikes, with thunder to incite,
The crew holds fast, with tales forever told,
As they journey through, the ocean's endless night.
The sea of darkness, with a haunting cry,
As the waves crash down, with a mournful sigh,
The ship sails on, with hope beyond the sky,
And the crew stands tall, with hearts that never die.
Oh, stormy night, with tales so true,
May your memory sail on, forever anew.
Amidst the wild and tempest-tossed sea,
A darkness spreads, a cloak of endless night,
With waves that roar, and winds that fiercely blow,
The ocean's depths appear a fearsome sight.
The lightning strikes, illuminating the skies,
In flashes bright, revealing all below,
The heaving waves, with white-capped crests, arise,
And crashing down, they strike the shore below.
The sea of darkness, with its fearsome might,
A restless beast, that stirs with each new blast,
A symphony, of tempest and of night,
A song of power, that will surely last.
Yet even in this night of fear and pain,
There is a beauty that cannot be contained.
Shipwrecked
Upon a fateful night of raging storm,
A ship once proud, by unseen hands, was tossed,
Its timbers torn asunder, sails forlorn,
And swallowed by the waves, forever lost.
The ocean roared, its wrathful arms embraced,
With iron grip, the vessel's breaking spine,
As panicked souls, by fear and darkness faced,
Despaired and prayed for safe and hallowed shrine.
Yet in the depths, a twisted beauty blooms,
As sea life thrives within this wooden grave,
A coral tomb that shrouds the sunken gloom,
Where ghostly forms in shadowed water sway.
In tragic splendor, neath the ocean's crest,
The shipwreck slumbers, locked in eternal rest.
Amidst the ocean's wrath, a ship is tossed,
Her hull so weak, against the waves so high,
The crew stands strong, with heart and with exhaust,
As they battle through, the endless stormy sky.
The ship's timbers groan, with a mournful sound,
As the waves crash down, with a deafening pound,
The crew holds fast, with tales forever bound,
As they journey through, the ocean's endless ground.
But then a moment comes, with a mighty blow,
And the ship is wrecked, upon the ocean's throw,
Her crew is lost, to the endless below,
And their tales remain, forever to bestow.
Oh, ship so grand, with tales so true,
May your memory sail on, forever anew.
Amidst the howling winds and pounding rain,
A ship sets sail, upon the stormy seas,
Its timbers creak, and ropes and sails complain,
As waves crash over, and the winds increase.
But then, a mighty gust, that shakes the mast,
A jagged bolt of lightning, strikes the deck,
The ship is tossed, and soon it is aground,
Its voyage ended, in a watery wreck.
The sailors cling, to what remains afloat,
Their hopes and dreams, now shattered by the storm,
And as they cling, to what remains afloat,
They pray for rescue, and a safe return.
Yet in the midst of all this pain and woe,
There is a lesson, that they soon will know.
That sometimes, in life's stormy, raging sea,
We must surrender, and be set free.
Lost At Sea
Adrift upon the endless, rolling main,
A sailor lone, with naught but hope to guide,
His vessel, battered by the winds and rain,
He braves the tides of fortune's fickle tide.
The stars above, those distant points of light,
Like beacons call, yet offer no reprieve,
For in their cold and silent, twinkling sight,
No solace finds the heart that dares to grieve.
His thoughts drift back to shore and love's embrace,
The warmth of hearth and laughter left behind,
Yet grasping hands of memories efface,
While waves conspire to drown his restless mind.
Lost at sea, a mariner's tale untold,
A valiant soul, by fate and fortune, sold.
Upon the endless waves, a sailor lost,
His ship now gone, with tales forever told,
His heart so pure, with dreams forever crossed,
As he floats alone, in the ocean's hold.
The waves around him, with a mournful sound,
As he drifts alone, upon the ocean's ground,
His soul so strong, with love and with care,
As he battles through, the endless depths of despair.
The sailor's eyes, with memories to keep,
As he floats with hope, through the endless sleep,
His heart so true, with a promise to meet,
And his tales remain, forever to greet.
Oh, sailor lost, with tales so grand and true,
May your memory sail on, forever anew.
A sailor lost at sea, adrift and lone,
With nothing but the endless ocean wide,
His thoughts now turn, to all he's known,
And wonders if he'll ever see the tide.
He's searched for land, for days and nights untold,
With only sky and sea, his constant view,
His strength now fades, and courage starts to fold,
As hope and faith, begin to dwindle too.
But then, he sees, a light upon the crest,
A beacon shining, in the distant night,
He steers his course, and gives his very best,
To reach that light, and make it back to sight.
And as he nears, the shore he longed to see,
He knows that he, is finally free.
Pirate’s Treasure
Upon the winds of fortune and of fate,
A pirate bold doth sail the azure sea,
His heart aflame with visions of the great,
And gleaming hoard that waits for him to seize.
With tattered map and compass in his hand,
He charts a course through myth and whispered lore,
To seek the isle where golden treasures stand,
And ancient riches lie beneath the shore.
Through storm and strife, he battles Neptune's might,
And faces down the specters of his past,
His crew, a motley band of thieves and knights,
Their loyalty and courage unsurpassed.
In quest of treasure, bound by pirate's code,
He sails the seas, his destiny untold.
A pirate bold, with heart and with might,
Sets sail to find a treasure, grand and true,
His crew so loyal, with tales to incite,
As they journey through, the ocean's endless blue.
The map in hand, with clues so clear,
The pirate leads, with courage without fear,
The treasure waits, with tales to bestow,
And the pirate's heart, with a treasure to grow.
The journey long, with perils to meet,
As the pirate battles, through the ocean's endless beat,
His heart so strong, with tales to repeat,
And his spirit bold, with every breath so sweet.
Oh, pirate true, with tales so grand and bold,
May your memory sail on, forever to be told.
A pirate sets out on a quest so grand,
To find the treasure chest, that's known to all,
With maps and compass, in his weathered hand,
He sets sail, to answer the call.
He braves the storms, and battles with the seas,
He scales the cliffs, and fights with all his might,
He searches high, and low, with ease and ease,
And all the while, he follows the light.
For he has heard, the tales of riches untold,
A chest of gold, and jewels shining bright,
And with each step, his heart begins to bold,
And he knows, he'll have this treasure in sight.
And when at last, he finds it, buried deep,
He'll raise his flag, and shout out, Ahoy, the loot I keep!
Battle at Sea
Upon the stage of history's grand ballet,
Two navies met to dance a deadly waltz,
Their timbers strained 'gainst winds that held their sway,
And salted waves, which challenged hearts and faults.
As cannons roared, their fiery tongues did speak,
A language fierce, and known to sailors all,
The ocean stained with blood, and iron reek,
A symphony of chaos, battle's call.
Yet 'midst the smoke and thunder's deaf'ning cry,
A hero's heart, with courage, did take wing,
In valiant fight, he dared to do or die,
And to his men, the taste of triumph bring.
Now echoes of that naval battle's roar,
In history's annals live forevermore.
Upon the ocean's vast and endless plain,
A battle rages with a mighty sound,
The cannons roar, with thunder and with strain,
And ships collide, with fury all around.
The sailors stand, with courage in their hand,
As they battle through, with all their might and will,
Their hearts so true, with a promise to stand,
And fight for freedom, with every breath and skill.
The waves around, with a haunting cry,
As the ships collide, with a mournful sigh,
The sailors fight, with every hope and try,
And their tales remain, forever to apply.
Oh, battle grand, with tales so true,
May your memory sail on, forever anew.
A battle rages, on the rolling waves,
With ships of war, and cannons blazing bright,
The winds of fate, have gathered all their braves,
And brought them here, to this epic fight.
The clash of swords, the roar of musket fire,
The smell of powder, and the taste of salt,
The bravery of men, who will not tire,
And the determination, that will not halt.
For this is not, just any ordinary fight,
It's a battle that will make history,
A moment that will shine, so bright and bright,
And be remembered, for eternity.
And when at last, the smoke has cleared,
The world will know, what bravery and courage can achieve, and how it was revered.
Sunken Ship
In tales of yore, a ship of grand design,
With sails unfurled and hearts alight with pride,
Did brave the seas, where fate and fortune twine,
Yet fell to depths, where sunlight fears to bide.
Her voyage fraught with dreams and hopes untold,
A symbol of man's mastery o'er wave,
Yet nature's grasp, with hands of ice and cold,
Did wrest the ship from glory to its
