4 stars out of 4 stars from Onlinebookclub.org! "One aspect of the book that stands out is David's humor that permeates the entire book. I just could not stop laughing throughout the story, especially with his funny way of diffusing heated situations..." "...riveting..."
Though not remotely a biography of Dana's life, this book recounts the full history of the popular retreat (overnight resort) that she headlined. This retreat was the Phoenix nightclub that was infiltrated by undercover cops and, eventually, shut down in 1994. This sexy thriller can be compared to the lighthearted tone of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas with the authors narrating their individual experiences as if in an episode of The Office. When fans learn about Dana's adorable antics, they will grow to love the star even more. The book title came from Dana's last name being the same as the most famous swinger's club in history called Plato's Retreat in New York. And so, the authors named the swinger's club in Phoenix Dana Plato's Retreat, the subject of this book. Category: nonfiction memoir, adult humor, explicit sexual content, and brief nudity.

A Message from David Schwartz
To all my fans, although I’ve been called the most interesting man in the world, I’ve always believed that if you can dream it, you can do it. Men who want to be me will love this book. Men who are jealous of me will hate it. Women who don’t believe in a double standard, who love life, and love adventure, love me. Women who are prudes or old fashioned, hate me. I cater to people who love life and want to experience everything life has to offer. Love me or love to hate me. This is America and I will fight for your right of freedom of thought and speech.

DAVID
Running a swinger’s club in Phoenix was just like the TV show Cheers. We had our Cliff and our Norm and all the other regulars, except our regulars were all undercover cops. They would sit around, watch porn, watch people have sex, dildos flying, almost getting hit with a vibrator. But what the hell did I get myself into? I mean, how did it all begin? I remember watching on TV Dana getting arrested for robbing a video store. She ended up double paroled because she also wrote a fake prescription for Valium. That’s when Dana came to me for help. I really felt sorry for her.
Why did I pick Phoenix as the location for the swinger’s club? Well, because it’s close to L.A. I knew I could get movie people out here easily. I had been growing my business too fast and was too well known in Vegas by now. The Vegas cops were jealous of me and had been harassing me. So I had to get out of Vegas because of their low mentality. When I first came to Phoenix, I opened a bikini car wash - two actually; one on Van Buren and the other in Scottsdale. In 40 days we had 40 car accidents.
Due to the car accidents that my bikini car wash caused, the Phoenix cops passed an ordinance banning sexy outfits outside of a business. The ban included holding signs that advertised a bikini car wash because the sexy signs likewise caused sexual arousal car accidents. What I had done was advertise the bikini car wash on the g-string of the models and they would bend over toward traffic. Well, somebody ended up getting killed. The man had stopped to look and another gawker crashed into him going 40 mph. He died right in the driveway of the bikini car wash. He was slumped over in his seat with blood coming out of his mouth.
I figured now would be a good time to close it down, now that we started killing people. We almost decided to make it into a movie called The Bikini Car Wash Massacre, but people died before we could start it. So yeah, that business closed down pretty quickly. I had to do something, so I decided to try opening a swinger’s club.

It was at this time that Dana called me and asked what’s up. I pitched her the idea for the two of us to open a kind of Playboy mansion. My plan was to cater to celebrities and investors. Our place never catered to sleaze bags like the Phoenix cops claimed it did. Even the cops ended up coming and enjoying our place, but unfortunately, they were only coming to arrest me.
One night, there were a bunch of guys sitting around in the orgy room and no women showed up. When they complained, I told them, Well, you shouldn’t have come on gay night. Ha-ha!
One guy wanted a refund, and I took him outside so he could get his money back. But once we were outside, he assumed a karate position as if he was going to karate chop me.
He went into the crane position from The Karate Kid. I said,
