About this ebook

He's not a man, but he's not a monster...

Young and professional, Ashley is also lonely, which is why she's resorting to a magic spell to dream of her "one true love." Ashley's not a witch, though. She's just a humble office assistant. And the man who appears in her dream isn't a man at all, but a centaur. He's muscular and golden-skinned, with eyes that are brimming with the wisdom of the ages. For some reason, he can also speak English, and he promises Ashley that he's been summoned to teach her a lesson. Hopefully, for Ashley's case, it's a lesson in pleasure...

The Centaur of My Dreams - Sophie East

The candles were lit. The petals of thirteen ruby-red roses were scattered around me in a perfect circle. There was just one last step for the spell to be complete.

I turned the page in my spellbook to reveal the words of the incantation. I’m ready, I told myself, running my fingertip over the printed words.

The book itself had been my prize from my work’s white elephant gift exchange. Like the other gifts, which included a jar of olives and an economy pack of double-A batteries, the spellbook had been included as a gag gift.

At the end of the gift exchange, my coworkers excitedly revealed who had brought what.

Hey, Molly. Is this from you? I asked my cubicle mate, showing her the book.

She looked at me from under the umbrella hat that she’d received as her gift. No. But how cool!

I’d asked two other coworkers if they’d brought the spellbook, all without success. I ended up leaving the party without knowing who had provided it, but secretly happy that I’d been the one to select it out of the pile.

Now, in the safety of my bedroom, I was finally about to conduct the only spell in the entire book I was interested in. It was a spell to make myself dream of my one true love. A vivid, amorous dream was what the spellbook promised. All I had to do was recite the incantation while looking into a silver-backed mirror.

I read over the words a few times, committing them to memory.
