Personal Introduction
Besides a welcoming foreword, I would like to give you a personal introduction and share the story of creating my own first app, filled with ups and downs, mistakes and learnings that I want to share with the world.
My name is Pavels, I am an ordinary person with a curious fascination for apps. I used to have a nine-to-five job and dreamed about creating my own app for many unfruitful years. App ideas, good and bad (mostly bad) came into my head from time to time, but I never had enough motivation to implement any of them. In order to start, I needed either a passion of extreme strength, or a solid understanding of the whole process, from idea to launch, explained step-by-step, which I couldn’t find anywhere.
It wasn't until I stumbled upon a problem (or an opportunity, if you will) in my own life, which gave me the long-awaited kickstart.
I have a daughter who loves coloring books and coloring apps. However, back in 2024 all apps were either very limited in the choice of pictures – or had unreasonably high subscription costs (and still were limited). With the idea of utilizing AI to make a difference, I set out to create my own coloring book app that would use AI to generate contour images from text descriptions, allowing children to color in their favorite characters, animals, and landscapes like never before.
Armed with little more than determination and a basic understanding of coding and design, I embarked on a journey to create my own app from scratch. I poured countless hours into learning new skills, experimenting with different technologies, and making plenty of mistakes along the way. But with each setback, I gained invaluable insights and grew more determined to succeed.
After months of hard work and perseverance, I finally launched her coloring book app to the world. It was a momentous occasion filled with excitement and anticipation as children everywhere downloaded the app and began exploring its magical world of creativity. The app wasn't perfect, but it did the job, helping me stay organized and focused amidst the challenges of post-launch life.
Today, my app has grown beyond my humble dreams, reaching thousands of users around the world and earning me recognition as a successful app developer. But for me, the true measure of success lies not in the number of downloads or dollars earned, but in the lives I’d been able to touch and the knowledge I am able to share.
As I look back on my journey, I feel grateful for every obstacle, every mistake, and every lesson learned along the way. And though I know that the road ahead will be filled with new challenges and uncertainties, I can face it with confidence, knowing that I have the skills, the knowledge, and the passion to overcome whatever obstacles come my way.
Driven by a desire to share my knowledge and help others turn their first app ideas into reality, I decided to write a book detailing this journey – so that you also have the knowledge that I lacked so much.
Although I’ve seen many books on crafting, pitching, and launching app ideas, I have never met a properly structured one, aimed specifically for the first-timers who have their idea ready and just need guidance in execution. Moreover, none of them had been written in 2024 yet :)
As a big fan of information organized in bullet points (I must admit, this is the only way I can digest data), I did my best to keep the book maximally structured and concise. Whenever applicable, I added comments and references to the example of my own app and how particular chapters were implemented in reality.
So, get ready to grasp the knowledge, tools,
