The Whispered Shadows of My Mind

Twisting and turning paths make their way through the emptiness. This place cannot be found on a map, and no one bothers to try and find it. I found my way here and now I am lost. This place is a world of my own creation, and I am locked inside. Most would find such a circumstance troublesome, but not me. The world ends up being a place where I nearly don’t belong. I cannot live in the world that most consider reality. The shadows mold and shift around me. They whisper in my mind eternally. I recently was told that poetry was a dead form of writing. This person told me that no one reads poetry anymore, and there’s no place for it in our technologically advanced world. Her thought was that it was old, stiff and boring. I disagree. I find poetry to be one of the most enduring forms of writing in existence. The reasoning is simple. There is no time frame in a poem. Some may reference an event or a story of a time, but unlike a novel, which has a
