(Bouncin Back)
It was the dead of winter when a strange looking snowman appeared in the backyard at Grandma’s house. Its unusual features left no doubt about who the creator was. It stood a little over five feet, but what made it look so strange were the dark shaded sunglasses covering two burnt black pancakes that served as its eyes. A banana was stuck in the middle of its face to serve as its nose, and several strawberries were used to make its mouth. To make it even more original, the creator placed a broke down black top-hat on its head and wrapped a ragged plaid scarf around its neck.
Visions of hot buttered pancakes spun in their heads as the slept through the cold winter night. Maple syrup smiled flashed across their young innocent faces to signify their eagerness for tomorrow morning’s breakfast. The dynamic duo were asleep, but their dreams lived on.
David and Samantha were known, respectively, as Fearless and Frightening by their friends, family, and Foe. They had just had a wonderfully trying and exhausting day today. The only person who was more exhausted than them was their grandmother, who at the end of this day was growing gray hair by the millisecond.
On this particular day the scene at the shopping mall could have been compared to the aftermath of an earthquake. These two seemingly innocent, sweet, darling little kids could have redefined the term Frontal Assault
for the United Stated military.
Anyway, Grandma made her rules clear to them right before they set out on their trip to the shopping mall. I want you to do what I tell you to do, when I tell you. Do you understand me? Walk, and don’t run in the store, and behave like you were in church.
Well, a lot of good that did because she still had to put up with their constant bickering, their antics, and the never ending rivalry that they were destined to perpetrate on humanity.
In retrospect, the friction that brought on this historic escapade began early that morning at the breakfast table, and a shortage of maple syrup was the predominate factor. It seems that Samantha’s healthy appetite for the sweet, honey-brown liquid left a dry and sour taste in David’s mouth because she used up what little was left. And accordingly, David got mad. His growling stomach was soon accompanied by a ferocious attitude. That’s how it all started.
Furthermore, Samantha’s facetious laughter during David’s ranting and raving spell didn’t help matters very much either.
