The era when humans have evolved to become a powerful version of themselves. A period in which humanity has transcended its limitations, evolving into an extraordinary incarnation. Technological prowess has soared to unimaginable heights, and infrastructure gleams with cutting-edge sophistication. Every facet of existence has morphed and progressed into novel forms.

Yet amidst all this transformation and evolution, one element remains intact, defying the ebb and flow of time, distance, and even progress itself. Human nature, the emotions, the essence from which our flesh and blood are molded, unyielding, and unaltered.

This story is the perfect depiction of the phenomenon. No matter the triumphs of scientific achievement and intellect, no innovation can ever overshadow the depth of human sentiment, human nature—emotions.

No technology could have ever changed or would change what a heart feels.

CHAPTER 1

Netherheim- Where Dark Powers Bloom

Fear has many forms, yet for Mathias, it had metamorphosed into a singular form: the fear of rejection. At this very moment, he fixed his gaze ahead, his eyes transfixed upon the girl he was to meet to purchase his spacecraft’s Cloaking Aura, which could make his ship invisible at his command. It was a spell he could only buy in Netherheim, where the residents were renowned for their dark powers. They lived, breathed, and traded these powers to make their living.

Alas, he had not anticipated that his vendor would so intensely attract him. With her hair cropped short and dyed a vibrant purple, she anxiously awaited Mathias, abiding by the predetermined time communicated through their Com-Capsules. Mathias glanced at his ComCap, realizing he was already behind schedule.

Robby, his ever-present AI companion, grunted, getting the exact idea of what was happening in Mathias’ head. Nudging his knees, Robby implored, I believe it is time to cease this daydreaming. But since the sun has long since set in Netherheim, we should refer to it as ‘night dreaming’ or, perhaps more accurately, a ‘nightmare.’ In any case, you should reach the girl and strike the deal so we can return to the ship.

Mathias rolled his eyes at his companion and squared his shoulders, evidently preparing himself for the forthcoming trial. Robby emitted another grunt, cautioning, Don’t even go there! You cannot bear another rejection. Moreover, we cannot endure another evening of despairing, hurt Mathias. Isn’t that right, Trophy? Robby pivoted his robotic head towards Trophy, Mathias’ faithful pet.

Mathias ignored his friends and approached the girl, extending his hand in the age-old handshake gesture. I am the Codeman. We discussed cl—cl—Cloaking Aura in—incantation in our telephone conversation.

The sleek girl squinted at the stammering Codeman. She was not expecting the famous Codeman, the genius nomad, to be so shy—and stammering. She shook Codeman’s hands firmly. I am Eva. She looked him up and down, observing nineteen-year-old Codeman with keen eyes.

Codeman was undeniably cute with a heartwarming smile. His features were delicately chiseled. While his body may have been frail, it held a certain grace that drew others near. Blond curls framed his face, some rogue ringlets going haywire to add to his charm, and steel blue eyes sparkling with intelligence and warmth. The most endearing was Codeman’s smile which transformed his entire face as if the sun had broken through the clouds.

Beneath his gentle exterior, Codeman harbored a brilliant mind, gifted with extraordinary intellect and an unmatched talent for crafting AI-based wonders. His creations were born from the world of imagination, bringing to life innovative technologies that left others in awe. Yet, with all this talent, he longed for a kindred spirit who could see beyond his shyness and appreciate the extraordinary person he was.

Codeman faced a peculiar challenge. Girls, overwhelmed by his shyness, failed to see the vibrant soul hidden beneath. They judged him solely on the surface, overlooking his character’s profound depths waiting to be discovered. Codeman yearned for someone who could see beyond his reserve… who would take the time to unveil the treasures within his heart.

Eva couldn’t help but chuckle at the young Codeman’s offer. Well, well, I didn’t expect such youthfulness, she teased. So, tell me, how much are you willing to pay for the incantation?

Stumbling over his words, Codeman quoted a fair amount, catching Eva off guard and earning another disapproving grunt from Robby.

Eva looked down at Robby, pulling a face at him, and then sweetly smiled at her prestigious buyer. I think it is just about the right price, considering the power of this incantation. But remember, the spell only works on non-living things.

Codeman nodded, and the duo finalized their deal.

As they prepared to part ways, Codeman squared his shoulders once again, mustering his courage. I was wondering if you’d like to join me for a cup of coffee, he asked, his voice filled with hopeful anticipation.

Eva’s sweet smile swiftly transformed into a sneer, her words cutting with an air of superiority. Hey, mister Codeman, no matter how intelligent you may be, my tastes lie elsewhere. Don’t even attempt to flirt with me, she retorted, her remark dripping with condescension. With an eyeroll and an air of dismissiveness, she spun on her heels and vanished into thin air, leaving Codeman and Robby behind.

Robby couldn’t help but roll his round, doodly eye in exasperation. "These Neheimbians, always so unpredictable. Although, it was predictable that she would join the ranks of those who rejected the Codeman."

Trophy honked, drawing Robby’s attention to Codeman’s slumped shoulders. Robby sighed, casting his gaze skyward. Oh, dear. Another night drenched in sorrow and self-pity for Codeman, he moaned.

With the Cloaking Aura Incantation secured on Codeman’s ComCap along with the passcode, the trio began their journey back to the city, opting to walk and absorb the mystical atmosphere of dark powers that enveloped their surroundings.

As Codeman ventured deeper into the mysterious realm of Netherheim, a sense of excitement and nervousness filled the air. The streets were dark and cold, most parts only lit by the moonlight. It was as if the citizens of this town despised lights.

In Netherheim, the people possessed ancient dark powers that seemed to defy the laws of the modern world, and strange and mythical beings roamed the city. Codeman has heard the stories, tales of individuals who could manipulate shadows, summon elements, and bend reality itself. It was as if the legends of the old had come alive in this futuristic era, and Codeman couldn’t wait to uncover the truth behind these extraordinary powers.

As he explored the streets, he encountered individuals who seemed to possess an aura of mystery. Their eyes held a spark, a glimmer of secrets. Yet, amidst the ancient dark powers, there was a subtle intertwining of advanced technology. Codeman marveled at the seamless integration of the past and the future, where ancient traditions coexisted with cutting-edge innovations. It was as if the people of Netherheim had found a way to bridge the gap between bygone eras and the wonders of the present, creating a fusion that fueled Codeman’s curiosity.

Enjoying and reveling in the unique surroundings, Codeman, Robby, and Trophy reached their ship. Robby instantly slumped down in his pod and suggested Codeman rest, too, before enclosing himself in the familiar sanctuary.

However, Codeman, reeling from the latest rejection, took out a whiskey bottle from 2022. He sat on the deck to soak himself in the feeling of loneliness. Trophy snuggled close, making him realize he was not alone.

Codeman, an orphaned young man, had only one remnant of his nomad parents: their loyal pet, Trophy. Left to carve his own path, Codeman learned the ways of the streets. With his mother’s looks and his father’s sharp intellect, Codeman possessed a unique blend of traits that
