INTRODUCTION

Microsoft (MS) Office is a software and services developed by Microsoft. It was first announced by Bill Gates on August 1, 1988, in Las Vegas. The first version of Office contained Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point. Microsoft Office is a suite of desktop productivity applications that is designed specifically to be used for office or business use. It is a proprietary product of Microsoft Corporation and was first released in 1990.

MS Office was created to be a powerful, yet easy-to-use set of tools for creating and editing documents, spreadsheets and presentations. It includes a wide variety of applications that can be used for everything from basic word processing to advanced data analysis and visual presentations. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software is a vital element in any technology-related work. Learning various Office applications provides valuable skills for anyone working in any work place, from corporations to small businesses and is essential for establishing computer literacy.

MS Office software alone is not enough to establish a career, but still several applications combined with experience in specific areas of technology could be fused to enhance career opportunities. Intermediate and advanced training in Microsoft Office can help secure work in finance, business, technology, education, and other industries.

The company’s 1986 initial public offering (IPO) and subsequent rise in its share price created three billionaires and an estimated 12,000 millionaires among Microsoft employees. Since the 1990s, it has increasingly diversified from the operating system market and has made several Cooperate acquisitions, the largest being the acquisition of Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion in October 2023, followed by its acquisition of Linked In for $26.2 billion in December 2016 and its acquisition of Skype Technologies for $8.5 billion in May 2011.

Steve Ballmer replaced Gates as CEO in 2000 and later envisioned a devices and services strategy. This unfolded with Microsoft acquiring Danger Inc. in 2008, entering the personal computer production market for the first time in June 2012 with the launch of the Microsoft Surface line of tablet computers, and later forming Microsoft Mobile through the acquisition of Nokia’s devices and services division. Since Satya Nadella took over as CEO in 2014, the company has scaled back on hardware and instead focused on cloud computing, a move that helped the company’s shares reach their highest value since December 1999. Under Nadella’s direction, the company has also heavily expanded its gaming business to support the Xbox brand, establishing the Microsoft Gaming division in 2022, dedicated to operating Xbox in addition to its three subsidiaries (publishers). Microsoft Gaming is the third-largest gaming company in the world by revenue as of 2023. The list of Applications launched by MS Office are as follows:

Microsoft has already launched this product as its older version like Office 4.3, Office 95, Office 97, Office 2000, Office 2002 XP Professional, Office 2003 & latest Office 2007. Each Version launched with some new and advance options. The given editions are mainly available as per the requirements of users at different levels. The part software of MS Office 2000 & 2003 (currently in use) are listed as:

In older versions, MS info Path and MS publisher were not available. We have MS Front Page as web development tool in older versions which are to be installed separately in case of installation of MS Office 2003 and 2007.
