Santa’s busiest season is Christmas. For the Easter Bunny, it’s Easter. And for me, Hailey Haddie—renowned vampire detective? It’s Valentine’s Day.

From secret admirers to love potions gone wrong, it seems like everyone needs a mystery solved around the annual day of love.

I may be famous nowadays, but once upon a time I was just a young vampire detective with big dreams. Perhaps you even heard about me from junior crime solver Ellie Scaredy Bat Spark.

As I sit sweating under the hot sun in my favorite place in the world—the tranquil beach at Jellyfish Lake—these Valentine mysteries feel like forever ago. Although, in reality, they were only a few months back (funny how time works like that sometimes!).

I write these mysteries down in hopes of not only remembering them, but for you to enjoy. I hope you have as much fun solving them as I did!

In the following pages, you will find some interesting experiences taken from my case log.

In these accounts, every fact, every clue necessary to the solution is given. The answer is in the story itself. You need look nowhere else.

Written in four hundred words or so, these short stories can be read in about a minute and solved in a few more.
