About this ebook

Candles, as instruments of illumination with esoteric and ritual significance, have made a comeback in recent years to regain the meaning they once had. The lighting of a candle is a ritual that combines traditions that speak of spells from the tenderness of a night by candlelight, to a simple bath under the relaxing effect of the special light of candles. Astrology is the complement to any personal growth technique, it offers you the opportunity to know what your life mission is, to know what you have come to in this reincarnation and what your challenges are in this life, that is, to know your natal chart.

Origins of Astrology. A bit of history

The origin of astrology is lost in time. Some say that he was born in Mesopotamia in 2500 BC, but numerous evidence indicate that his origin is much older. In addition, indications of ancient cultures point to very precise astronomical data, which are not explained by the means of observation that were available. It seems plausible the hypothesis that astrology was transmitted by a more evolved civilization that disappeared for reasons we do not know.

If we focus on the known origins of astrology practiced in the West, the oldest document available are clay tablets with astrological predictions dated around 2300 BC during the reign of Sargon of Akad, in Mesopotamia. Also, in Egypt there are abundant indications of a highly evolved astrology, but the secrecy of the Egyptian priests, in this and other matters, makes it difficult to know details about it. Many centuries later, the conquest of Babylon by Alexander the Great in 331 BC led astrology to reach Greece, where it was enriched by the contributions of Greek philosophy and mythology. By the second century BC, Roman expansion reached Greece and astrology reached Rome where it experienced a very favorable period.

However, from the fourth century astrology degraded in Europe, beginning a dark age. In the ninth century astrology developed very significantly in the Arab world. And it was precisely the Arabs who introduced it back to Europe through the Iberian Peninsula. In the fifteenth century, during the Renaissance, astrology reached its maximum splendor. A century later astronomy separated from astrology, giving rise to two separate sciences. Scientific rationalism born in the eighteenth century rejected astrology as a baseless superstition. It was not until the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries that astrology reappeared hand in hand with the theosophical movement of that time and was soon enriched by the contributions of modern psychology.

What we can assure is that with the emergence of the first agricultural communities in the prehistory of man, the precise calculation of time became an important element for survival, as the success of crops depends on the opportunity of planting.

The Babylonian priests were also astronomers and astrologers. The planets, whose movements through the sky allowed time to be measured, were considered divinities with power over the things of men.

Astrology is often accused of lacking scientific rigor. Due to the historical antiquity of this discipline, its methods, based on the combination of its own language of symbols (signs, houses, planets, etc.), with the observation over the centuries, of the correspondence between these symbols and the facts or characters symbolized, does not adapt to the demands of rigor of the most modern disciplines. This has not been inconvenient for personalities of science, of the category of Newton, Kepler, or Jung have considered it with respect and practiced it.

    What is Astrology?

Astrology is the science and art that studies the relationships that exist, seen from the earth, between the universe, stars, and planets, with the activities on planet Earth, those concerning man.

Why can astrology be considered a science?

Simply because it comprises a series of principles and laws that have been accumulated through observation, and because many of these principles are dependable.

Astrology is like many other sciences, it is not difficult, but it takes time and patience to learn the accumulated knowledge of thousands of years. Don't despair, the rewards will be great. You will find, as you progress through the course, a growing sense of personal worth and accomplishment, a feeling that for the first time, the world has meaning and value. You will discover that there is much more to the Sun than your zodiac sign. Astrology, before becoming the property of popular magazines and newspaper columns, was a sacred art.

The difference between astrology and astronomy is that the former studies the influence of the planets on the different events of life. The second studies the physical composition, color, distance, and position not only of the planets, but of everything that is composed of the universe, such as stars, constellations, and others.

There is a great deal of confusion about what a horoscope is. The word horoscope comes from hour and scope (observe), that is, it means observation according to the time of birth. The first conclusion we can draw about it is that the so-called horoscopes of newspapers are not, for the simple fact that they do not consider the hour, day, month, and year of birth of each person, but only the day and month. Therefore, it is not astrologically valid to divide people into 12 groups, saying from March 21 to April 22, Aries; from April 22 to May 22, Taurus, etc. and pretend that all the people of Taurus are going to have the same things happen.

It is for this reason that horoscopes in magazines and newspapers have extraordinarily little validity since they are based only on the position of the Sun. Itis understandable the distrust generated by these horoscopes since, if this were true, all Libras would get married on the same day, all Pisces would win the lottery at the same time, etc.

Astrology is not a religion either, but it can offer us a guide for the interpretation of our present and our future. This information can show us the reasons behind disagreements or guide our steps in making life-changing decisions.

The position of the stars at the exact moment of the birth of a person, animal, country, company, or any other entity, have great influence on their personality, health, profession and therefore on their destiny.

Astrology is a symbolic language, to understand it we need to become aware that we are creators of our reality, since we look at the world with filters, given by the natal chart. So, by knowing astrology we know our filters, our beliefs of reality and our judgments of things. The astrologer is an interpreter of the stars, a translator of the sky, for this we need to start looking at life from symbols and signs. To study astrology is to start thinking about images, with our right cerebral hemisphere. Think creatively.

    Heliocentric and Geocentric Model

In the Heliocentric system, planets, including Earth, revolve around the sun. For the study of astrology, the geocentric system is used, that is, the planets revolve around the earth.

What is the heliocentric theory and how it works?

    Geocentric Model Heliocentric Model

    What is a Natal Chart?

The natal chart is a seed of everything that, in a potential way, belongs to a man's personality if he were able to flourish fully and be fully conscious. It is in the most authentic of senses, a map, because the object with which it is studied is not to overcome the influences of the planets, but rather to let in life itself there is a margin to express all those qualities and impulses that are represented in the chart. Only then can the individual approach the original plan for the evolution of his life.

It is a picture of heaven at the time and place of your birth. It is the map of your life. The astral chart represents the planetary configuration of the moment of birth. This configuration describes the innate personal qualities that condition our perception of the world. Therefore, we experience and act in life according to that energetic model that we bring at birth.

Saying horoscope is the same as saying astral chart (graph of the stars). There are several types of birth chart, which are used by astrologers to make their studies. The basic and fundamental astral chart is the so-called natal chart or birth chart.

This consists of a graph of the sky for the exact time and place the person was born. If the time of birth is not known exactly, the natal chart can be made with an approximate time. It is even possible to establish the natal chart knowing only the day, month, and year of birth, but the conclusions are more general.

Here you can see that each house, that is, each sign has 30°, to add up to a total of 360°.

Chart, radar chart Description automatically generated

As you can see in the graph above, an astral chart has 360 degrees. Every 30° is marked the beginning of a new zodiac sign and the end of the previous one. This circumference with 12 sectors of 30° each (the 12 zodiac signs) represents the so-called zodiac, which you have surely heard of at some point. In the zodiac, formed by the twelve zodiacal signs, the ten astrological planets move. These are: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. The Earth is not counted as a planet, because astrology is based on the positions of the planets seen from Earth (geocentric system). That is, our observation point is the Earth, so it cannot be considered as a planet.

The Sun, as seen from Earth, travels through the twelve signs of the zodiac, about one per month, to complete a complete return to it after a year. Thus, approximately on March 21 of each year (beginning of spring), the Sun is placed at the beginning of the zodiac, which coincides with the 0° of the sign of Aries; on April 22, more or less, the Sun is 0° from Taurus; the Sun continues to advance (almost one degree per day) and on May 21 it is at 0° Gemini; and so on, until the following March 21 is placed again at the beginning of the zodiac (0° of Aries).

4.1. Translation movements | Earth in the Universe: The ...

You can already understand why it is so limited to do an astrological study based only on the sign of the person. For example, if we know that someone is Cancer, it is because he was born between June 21 and July 22. We would have to say that the sun sign of this person is Cancer, because the only thing we know so far is that when he was born, he had the Sun in one of the 30° of Cancer. But where did this person have now of birth to the Moon, Mercury, Venus, and the rest of the planets? This can only be known by making the birth chart.

The necessary data to make a natal chart are:

    1. The name of the person (not necessary for calculations).

    2. The exact date.

    3. The exact time or as close as possible.

    4. The place of birth.

What is your Natal Chart for?

There are many utilities according to the astrologer's approach. From discovering health problems, diseases or DNA tendencies or family inheritances, through professions, type of relationships, partner or marriage, children, creations, trips, difficulties, tests, or obstacles to overcome, trends, friends, hobbies, beliefs, philosophy of life, mission of the soul, karma, etc.

All persons or entities are composed of three signs; The solar, which is what we all know as our sign, is given by the position of the Sun at the time of our birth and marks our essence and identity. The moon sign is given by the position of the Moon according to the day we were born and marks our emotions. Finally, the Ascendant sign, which results from the time of birth and marks our personality. Therefore, all people have different combinations and therefore do not have the same characteristics, nor the same luck despite being of the same sun sign.

It is recommended that all people have their birth chart from a young age since it reflects their studies, their career, their partner, if it suits them to live abroad, etc. This is important since through it a mother can guide her children, regardless of age, since an astral chart is made with the date and time of the moment of birth.

In the natal chart are recorded for life, the potentialities, aptitudes, weaknesses, defects, and character of the person which thanks to the consultation with a professional astrologer can channel from childhood. For example, for the career or profession in which, according to the birth chart, you are destined to succeed. Parents see in our children’s aptitudes that we confuse with the true vocation, but it does not mean that this is the profession in which they will succeed. This is one of the reasons why many people work in a different job for which they have prepared.

Through the astral chart it is also possible to know and prevent health problems long before the symptoms appear, or that they are diagnosed by a doctor.

As for the economic part, a correct astrological advice will inform you about the possible investments and the businesses that can be more profitable according to your sign and planetary positions, which, in all cases, are different for each person.

In the love part the astrologer can let you know the astrological affinities that correspond to each case, the best time for any type of association. Having the birth chart of the two people who are going to join you can predict how successful this union will be.

Most Important Components of a Natal Chart

All the charts contain the same ingredients: the twelve zodiac signs, the eight planets, the Sun, and the Moon. However, each card is different because at any given time the arrangement of all those factors is different.

The three fundamental components of an astral chart are: The signs of the Zodiac, the Planets, and the Houses. Finally, we will add a fourth component, the Aspects (angular relationships between the planets).

    The Signs of the Zodiac.

    Aries 7- Libra

Symbols of the Signs of the Zodiac.

It is essential that you learn to draw the symbols, from now on you will not sign their names, but their symbols.

Remember that the twelve signs of the zodiac are represented by twelve equal sectors of 30º each in the astral chart. The sign in which the Sun is in our natal chart is our sun sign, popularly known as the zodiac sign.

    Classification of Signs

Signs are classified according to their polarity, modality, and element.

    The Two Polarities

The signs of the zodiac alternate so that a positive sign (active, male, daytime) is always followed by a negative one (receiver, passive, female, nocturnal) and vice versa:

Positive: The Fire signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius) and the Air signs (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius) are positive, they are the odd signs, which means that their energy is emitting. Thus, positive signs are extroverted, they externalize everything, their impulse goes outwards, and they perceive the world based on what they see.

Negative: The Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) and the Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) are negative, they are the even signs, which represents that your energy is receptive. Consequently, negative signs are introverted, internalize what comes to them, experience from within and perceive the world based on what they feel.

    The Three Modalities or Qualities

The signs are grouped by modalities giving rise to three groups of four signs each, which is known as quadruplicities of the zodiacal signs. Each sign is assigned a quality as follows:

    Cardinal signs

They are the ones that coincide with the beginning of the seasons. If the March equinox marks 0° Aries, the September equinox marks the opposite point, 0° Libra. Similarly, the June solstice corresponds to 0° Cancer and the December solstice to 0° Capricorn.

The cardinal signs Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn are signs of initiative and leadership.

How to learn them: (you always add #3).

    1+3=4

    Aries+3 signs=Cancer

    Cancer+3 signs=Libra

    Libra+3 signs=Capricorn

Note: That is why it is important that you know the numerical order of the zodiac signs.

    Fixed Signs

The fixed signs are located just after the cardinal ones. To this group belong Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. They are signs of stability and fullness.

You apply the same method above by adding 3(Taurus is sign #2 + 3 = Leo sign #5

    Mutable signs

They are the signs of the zodiac that close the seasons and end just when the equinox or solstice begins. They are flexible, changeable, and unpredictable.

The mutable signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces.

Apply the method of 3(Gemini +3 = Virgo sign #6)

    The Four Elements

To each element belong three signs, and in each of them, the element manifests itself differently depending on whether it is a cardinal, fixed or mutable sign. These three forms that each element must manifest itself is called triplicity of the signs.

    Fire Signs

Energy, initiative, dynamism, and expansion. The beginning of action and the strength for change. Fire signs tend to be enthusiastic, dynamic, and temperamental. They get angry easily, but they also forgive just as easily. They are adventurous, possess immense energy. They are very physically strong and are a source of inspiration for others, The people of fire signs are intelligent, self-aware, creative, and idealistic, always ready for action.

The fire signs are Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius

Here you are going to add 4.

    Example: Aries (sign #1) + 4 = Leo (sign # 5) + 4 = Sagittarius (sign #9)

    Earth Signs

The pleasures, the material, the practical, the foundations of human life and the search for well-being, stability, and security. The earth signs are the ones that have our feet firmly on the ground and the ones that help us do the same.

They are usually conservative and realistic, but they can also become very emotional. They love luxury and material goods. They are practical, loyal, stable and are always there for their loved ones during difficult times.

They belong to the earth element Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn.

You apply the method of adding 4. (Virgo +4 = Capricorn)

    Air Signs

Contact with others, intellect, logic, communication, relationships, exchange of ideas. Air signs are people who love to communicate and build relationships with other people. They are thinkers, friendly, intellectual, communicative, and analytical. They love philosophical discussions, social gatherings, and good books. They enjoy giving advice but can become very superficial.

Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are air.

You apply the method of adding 4. (Libra + 4 = Aquarius).

    Water Signs

Emotions, feelings, intuition, and instinct. Sensitivity, empathy, and compassion. Water signs are exceptionally emotional and ultrasensitive people. They are extremely intuitive and can be as mysterious as the ocean itself. Water signs have an excellent memory and love deep conversations and intimacy. They criticize themselves openly and are always there to provide support to their loved ones.

The water signs are Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces.

    Cancer +4= Scorpion.

    ––––––––

Note: It is especially important that you learn the signs in numerical order, if someone asks you what is, for example, the sign # 8, you should know without thinking that it is Scorpio, at first it is difficult, but with practice you learn it. And even if you think that this has no use you will see in the future how it helps you in other lessons. As it is also key that you learn the symbols of each sign and recognize them visually.

    The Planets

The planets are the other components of the natal chart, they are 10 planets, and you must also learn it in order and memorize their symbols. Chiron is considered an asteroid by some astrologers, and by others a planet, however, its interpretation is especially important especially in karmic astrology. Nodes are also karmic points, BUT THEY ARE NOT PLANETS. We will study them in a separate class.
