Chapter 1: The Formation of the Mamluk Sultanate
The origins of the Mamluk Sultanate trace back to a unique chapter in Islamic history, marked by the rise of slave soldiers who not only became a formidable military force but eventually seized political power in Egypt and Syria. The Mamluks, originally brought into the Islamic world as slave soldiers,
would go on to establish a dynasty that left a lasting impact on the region. Exploring the origins of the Mamluk Sultanate involves unraveling the complex interplay of military power, political maneuvering, and the transition from slave status to rulership.
The Rise of Mamluk Soldiers:
The term Mamluk

The Bahri Mamluks, a faction of Mamluk soldiers, seized the opportunity presented by the Ayyubid vulnerabilities to assert their
