Chasing After the Wind: Poetry by Valerie J. Macon
Author

Valerie J. Macon

Valerie Macon grew up with NY and was greatly influenced by her parents' love of life and exquisite sense of humor as well as a large extended family of colorful aunts, uncles and cousins who gathered every Sunday at Grandma's row house in Queens were dinner was an all-day event with lots of loud story-telling, laughter and singing. She finds poetry everywhere, in every encounter, every conversation, and every minutia of life. Her belief is that poetry is communication between the poet and the reader; that the purpose of poetry is to reach people with a message, to cause them to look at things in a new and fresh way.

Then I considered all which my hands had done and labored to do, and behold, all was vanity and chasing after the wind and there was no profit (nothing of lasting value) under the sun. Ecclesiastes 2:11

THOSE THINGS WE BUILD ON EARTH STAND ONLY AS TEMPORARY MONUMENTS TO OUR EXISTENCE.

NO MATTER HOW HARD WE TRY, OVER TIME, THEY SUCCUMB TO the elements
