    The Falling Away - Fredric A Hussey

    CHAPTER 1

    FALLING AWAY

    Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

    II Thes. 2:3 (KJV)

    II Thes. 2:3 clearly indicates there will occur a falling away of mankind first and then the introduction of the antichrist. Jesus confirms this in His own words in the following verses.

    "Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

    And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

    And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

    And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

    But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

    And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

    When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

    Mt. 24:9-15 (KJV)

    Verses 9-14 characterize The Falling Away, and verse 15 is the revealing of the antichrist.

    The Falling Away is so fascinating because it is a clear indication characterizing mankind’s spiritual condition prior to the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    There are two words that are synonymous with falling away and are used by scholars; neither word can be found in the King James Version.

    apostasy-an abandoning of what one believed in.

    repudiation-to refuse to have anything to do with. To publicly disown or cast off. To deny the validity, authority, and truth of.

    Repudiation and apostasy are defined in the following verses.

    "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

    Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

    And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.

    Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lust of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves:

    Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

    For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

    And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.

    And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

    Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

    Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

    Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

    Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do
