The Nine Elements of Power - E'AhLi TaQast
Introduction
When was the last time you heard someone say the word spirit ? Probably not too long ago. Usage of the word is more common than you think, like people referring to a creature as their spirit animal or sending regrets to a party by saying they’ll be there in spirit. We encourage people with the phrase That’s the spirit!
and sometimes say we’re in the spirit of moving forward
to conclude a meeting. We even speak about people as having a fighting spirit or a gentle spirit. A kindred spirit is a close friend or matching soul, usually someone we bond with closely.
Spirit. Spooky apparition. Creature of mythology. Spirits surround us everywhere in language, and not just ours. The concept of spirit is present in cultures around the world, though the first associations made with the term may differ from person to person. Some may feel a more positive connection, while others think of something negative.
With all those different contexts in mind, how do we define the word spirit?
The first dictionary definition of spirit is the non-physical part of a person, which is the seat of their emotions and character.
Thus, spirit is the foundation of who we are, the matter or subject from which our soul is built. It is the core of our very existence, yet intangible, often hidden, only to be fully shared with those we trust. The second definition is those qualities regarded as forming the typical elements in the character of a person, nation, and group, or in the thoughts and attitudes of a particular person.
It is similar to the first definition, as spirit is still the matter out of which the soul is made. Except it’s not just individual souls but also the shared soul of groups of kindred spirits and, on an even bigger scale, whole countries. These souls are what breathe life into a concept and lend their spirits to unique creations. Yet, these two definitions don’t entirely capture the complexity of the concept of the word spirit. For that, we must dig deeper.
Perhaps this will do: Think of your brain like a smartphone. Most of you should have one. All right, no, stop watching cat videos and hear me out. If your brain is a smartphone, your spirit is the operating system. Your soul is the settings and applications you have in place, and mindfulness or your state of mind is about the apps you have running at the moment. To be mindful is to be connected to the deepest parts of yourself. That is where you find your spirit.
So, what, then, is spirituality? Some would say it’s fantasy. For others, it is the center of their life, the pinnacle of their existence, a greater purpose. Whether for you that’s religion, art, music, philosophy, or science, your spirit is the way you’ve chosen to connect to your inner self and interact with the outside world, to view it through the lens of what makes you feel connected to your spirit and that of others, to run your own personal operating system: You 1.0. As we go through life, we constantly upgrade that operating system with new features. Our spirit evolves with the experiences we make and have. Great happiness, drowning sadness . . . our spirit soaks them up to build on itself, much like our physical body does with nutrients. As we evolve our spirituality our spirit grows, and the more it does, the closer we get to the source of all power.
(Note how with today’s technology, smartphones are able to download volumes of software through the air. Many believe that spirits move through the air as well.)
Now, because this book is about the nine elements of power, we need to connect the dots between spirituality and power, and the link between them is socio-psychology. Socio-psychology is all about your state of mind and how you relate to the entities around you—those that may have power over you, those that are in your power to change, and those that seem unchangeable. The good news is that you can bend those entities to your spirit, once you know how, which gives you socio-psychological power over them. And if you want to enhance your life—whether personal, financial, or political—you must first learn about socio-psychological power.
That’s where the nine elements come in. You’ll need tools on your spiritual socio-psychological journey to power, and these elements will greatly assist you. The elements are always around you, so all you need to do is study them and learn how to use them for your benefit. These elements are:
Charms
Toxins
Garments
Secrets
Spells
Bones
Cards
Rituals
Raw Materials
These elements, both in their raw and in their endlessly combined forms, are what affect your state of mind, your soul, and your spirit in every moment of every day. Learning about them and how to use them will free your spirit from the burden of the unknown, release you from confusion and unsettlement, and help you find the power within to accomplish your wildest goals and fantasies. There are no limits to your expansion. The only limits are the ones you set yourself or let others impose on you. But to grow your spirit and find your power means to free yourself and to become the version of yourself you were always meant to be.
Chapter 1:
Charms
Charms are all around us, and to use them to your advantage you need to first recognize them. Charms can be as simple as an emoji sent in a text message and as complicated as a long thought-out design or presentation. To break charms down into their most basic form, charms
