Author

Angela Cuevas Alcañiz

Born in Albacete, Spain, in 1977, lives and works in Germany. This language teacher (English, Spanish and French) has always loved books and divides her time among her lessons, reading, writing and editing for several German publishers. She also enjoys taking long walks in the Black Forest. And bad jokes and black humour. And cake. A lot of cake. Choc cake, if possible. Angela Cuevas is currently (finally!) working on her own projects, to be seen here soon.

Books & Literature. A Celebration in 300 Bilingual Quotes

...sometimes when you really like a book, you need to read it again! To relive what you loved and find out what you missed before. Books always change as the person who reads them changes too....a veces, cuando realmente te gusta un libro, ¡necesitas volver a leerlo!

― Sara Nisha Adams, The Reading List (La lista de lectura)

...a good book can teach you about the world and about yourself. You learn more than how to read better; you also learn more about life. You become wiser. Not just more knowledgeable—books that provide nothing but information can produce that result. But wiser, in the sense that you are more deeply aware of the great and enduring truths of human life."...un buen libro puede enseñarte cosas sobre el mundo y sobre ti mismo.

― Mortimer J. Adler, How to Read a Book: The Classic Guide to Intelligent Reading (Cómo leer un libro. Una guía clásica para mejorar la lectura)

In the case of good books, the point is not to see how many of them you can get through, but rather how many can get through to you.

    ― Mortimer J. Adler

But I can now understand why people read, why they like to get lost in somebody else's life. Sometimes I'll read a sentence and it will make me sit up, jolt me, because it is something that I have recently felt but never said out loud. I want to reach into the page and tell the characters that I understand them, that they're not alone, that I'm not alone, that it's OK to feel like this. And then the lunch bell rings, the book closes, and I'm plunged back into reality.

    ― Cecelia Ahern, Flawed (Imperfectos)

She talked like a woman who knew more books than people.

― Melissa Albert, The Hazel Wood (La puerta del bosque)

Some books are so familiar that reading them is like being home again.

    ― Louisa May Alcott

What kind of life can you have in a house without books?¿Qué clase de vida se puede llevar en una casa sin libros?.

    ― Sherman Alexie, Flight
