Preface

The Morsalva company was grandiose in the field of modern medicine, but its influence extended beyond that. Another strong point of the company was its employee parties on festive dates in the main building's banquet hall.

With facilities spread throughout the city of Vale Verde, the main building was conveniently located near City Hall, right in the city center. This was where major scientific breakthroughs occurred. It was also in this imposing building that the annual billion-dollar health industry meetings took place, ever since the mid-1900s when Morsalva entered the pharmaceutical hall of fame.

Within that same building, however, in a large and specific room, were the festivities for all employees on special dates, such as Halloween, which was a favorite for many throughout Vale Verde. This was because people could attend as the children of employees, as long as they were dressed up and had some connection within Morsalva. Obtaining such a connection was far from difficult.

This was the case for Almir and Matias, both childhood friends who curiously had no relatives working for Morsalva. In Matias's case, he knew that his journalist uncle had something to do with the fact that the company wouldn't employ any of his relatives. As a result, Matias's parents provided outsourced work for the company in the uniform laundering business. Matias's father ran a laundry facility that significantly benefited Vale Verde residents who weren't employed by the region's largest company.

As for Almir, he had only his mother, who received a generous pension from his father, who had died in one of Morsalva's facilities while working as a construction worker in the reconstruction of a wing at one of the company's many treatment centers. His mother
