About this ebook

Forty-year-old Traci Woods believes her life has finally reached perfection. She and her wife, Monique, have just moved into their dream home. Before they can even get settled in, they meet their eccentric neighbor Frank, who claims to be an inventor. He is working on a time machine to transport himself directly into his body of twenty years ago so he can change his life.

Due to an unexpected glitch when Frank tests his machine, Traci ends up being thrown back into her twenty-year-old body in the year 2003. Can she persuade the younger version of Frank to build a new time machine to take her back to her real life? Should she contact twenty-one-year-old Monique and convince her they know each other in the future? Or will Traci completely regress into her young partying life?

    Chapter 1

The year I turned forty I thought my life had finally reached perfection and that nothing could ever ruin my happiness. The world around me sometimes seemed to be in chaos, but my own little realm was full of love and peace.

My wife and I helped the movers take in the last of our boxes from the truck and gave a big sigh as everything was finally put into our new place. After the movers left, she and I smiled and sat together on the couch in a spacious living room full of boxes and bags and held each other.

We did it, Monique! I said. Monique was a beautiful black woman, just a year older than me, with short curly hair and a curvy body. Her eyes were wide and her cheeks pleasantly plump. She was a few inches taller than me. I was white with long black hair, brown eyes, and a stout, athletic body.

Traci, I knew we could. This is my dream house!

Our own pool, a big garage, two stories all ours. I’m excited to put up my bookshelf!

Let’s get started putting some of this stuff away.

As we stood, a knock on the door made Monique and I look at each other quizzically.

I shrugged. Maybe the movers forgot something.

We walked to the door together and I opened it. Standing outside, leaning against the porch railing, was an older white man with a mostly bald head, white tufts of hair sticking up at random places. He smiled at us with crooked teeth.

Can we help you? Monique asked.

I noticed you moving in today, he said. I’m your neighbor. Frank Alderman. He pointed to the house to the right, a brick house with a red Mustang in the driveway. He picked up a plastic bag at his feet and held out a beer to me.

I don’t have anything fancy to cook like new neighbors are supposed to have but I thought maybe you two would like something to drink.

I glanced sideways at Monique and accepted the beer. Sure, thanks!

    Monique
