A little word of ADVICE

Don’t get me wrong – I love Monica. And she’s perfect for Peter.

There were times when I thought my brother would never meet his someone special, and then she happened along – Monica Wright. I mean actually his Miss Right, give or take a letter! Unbelievable.

‘So, have you been married before, Monica?’ I quizzed her, when Peter first introduced her. Maybe it was a bit blunt, but I needed to know what he was getting himself into.

‘No, I haven’t,’ she told me.

‘Any kids?’

‘No kids – though I do love children. Your three are adorable, Joanne – you’ve done a great job with them.’

‘Wouldn’t you prefer to live in harmony?’

As they were thundering up and down the stairs at the time and sounding like they were trashing their bedrooms overhead, I awarded Monica top marks both for lack of personal baggage and knowing when to compliment a parent even though it wasn t deserved.
