CHAPTER ONE

                                Orbiting Nomar

    The small capsule was a tiny dot in the pitch blackness of space. It’s mission was to study a newly discovered planet. Cardinal xx2 contained one man. This man intended to land on Nomar.

Jave entered space in the small capsule. Going to space wasn’t his life-long dream come true but working for Space Patrol sure beat being a sanitation worker like his father. The capsule propelled like a bumblebee entering a butterfly net, into orbit around the planet Nomar. Jave walked with his shoulders back and his chest puffed out. His six-foot two athletic body was cramped in the small capsule. Jave stooped over to avoid hitting his head. Even though he was competent, he still worried. Strange things happened in space.

Jave never expected to end up working for Binvo. He grew up poor and only received a basic education. Binvo sent representatives to Jave’s high school, he was recruited. Six years later he’s orbiting a new planet.

Jave checked his watch. It was time to go on the air.

  Screen on, he said. The screen turned on and a commercial was playing.

Binvo Industries headquartered in what at one point was called Texas. The Lone Star state is now a corporate state. Most states have become corporate states. Texas and Rhode Island are owned by Ford and produce space trucks and bubble vehicles. At Ford you can be a winner because we are winners.

Jave went live.

Good morning world, I’m speaking to you from my space capsule from, you guessed it, space. I’ve  entered orbit around the planet we call Nomar. The planet Nomar was recently discovered by a brand-new tele-space-scope. The tele-space -scope was on top of a brand-new sky-high-skyscraper. The building, the tele-space-scope, and the rocket all belong to Binvo Industries. The planet is covered by a pink fog and has what appears to be mountains on its surface. I’ll send a robot-droid to the surface of the planet to collect samples. I’m excited to see what the space robot-drones find. I have a beautiful view and I wish you were here. We can watch them explore the surface of the planet together. The robot-droid records everything. Future generations will be able to watch the exploration of Nomar. It takes six hours and thirty-seven minutes for the drones to cover their designated area. The drones and the droids will come back to the ship as soon as they complete their missions.

His allotted time expired. He had to record a data message and save it to the catalogue.

Voice recorders turn on now. The robot-drones and the recorder droid  have returned with  samples. As I sift through the samples, I see sand and rocks. There is a tiny object under the sand. It looks like an acorn. I'll do more research on this object. Voice recorders off.

    The alarm went off. It was time to land on Nomar. The capsule descended and landing gear activated. The planet unexpectedly resisted the capsule. The planet wanted to crash the intruder into the surface.

The pull of gravity increased, and the capsule accelerated. It would crash in sixty seconds. The temperature rose by the second.

Jave turned on the autopilot. The thrusters activated and the capsule fought to escape the gravity of Nomar. The capsule shook like a milkshake. Jave increased the thrust. The capsule was escaping from the planet.

The temperature reached 225 degrees Fahrenheit. Jave struggled to stay alert. His spacesuit attempted to cool him, but it failed. He dropped to the floor and crawled across to a compartment. He opened it and took out
