    Returning Home

    Ho, ho, ho! Santa chuckled while flying on his sleigh. Merry Christmas, everyone!

    Santa and a few elves flew in his sleigh, heading back to the North Pole.

    Project Christmas is complete! one of the tiny elves chirped. Santa smiled triumphantly as they continued flying. As they flew, the world changed beneath them. Every place was different and beautiful, from Australia to Ecuador, America, England, Italy, and all the rest, even if Santa became a burnt chicken in some of them due to their hot climate. Santa even abandoned two of his woolly jumpers in Australia, one of the oven–like countries. Hopefully, someone was happy with them, even if they were one thousand times their size. Maybe a kangaroo would find them; he didn’t know. Santa was a little overweight, perhaps a bit more than a little, but he wasn’t concerned about his health. Santa wasn’t a teensy bit scared of being overweight.

    More cookies and milk for him! Santa smiled at the thought. Santa also got a new title – a dad! He thought of his little girl back home with Mrs. Claus watching over her. Santa wished he could spend more time with her, but duties are duties. Carol was 11. Santa thought about her as he continued teering the sleigh. Then, one of the elves said,

    Santa! We’re here!

    Santa looked up to see the North Pole come into view. They were finally home! Santa couldn’t wait to see all his family and elf friends. He landed the sleigh as all the other elves started cheering. Santa waved as he walked out.

    Thank you, thank you! Santa said repeatedly. Then, Santa saw his wife and daughter and ran over to them.

    Darlings! Santa said as he gave each girl a long hug.

    Hi, Daddy! Carol said.

    Hello, darlings! he replied. Santa gave them
