Things here on the farm have been busy this holiday season. Our mutual friend is hosting a Christmas party tonight. He wants to introduce his new girlfriend to his family and friends. I haven’t had the opportunity to meet her, but one of the ladies in town says she is exactly what we need around here. To be honest, that alone is cause for concern. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt until we break bread together. In the meantime, if you come up with anything new to share, get in touch. How’s dad?

I closed my laptop and returned my focus to the two women seated at my kitchen table. Let’s hope Harrison checks his email before dinner tonight.

Ida Belle thoughtfully sipped her coffee, sighed, slurped from the cup, and sighed again.

Do you have something you’d like to contribute? Gertie said with an edge of sarcasm. If you huff like that again, I’ll swear you have gas and you’re trying to make enough noise to cover it up.

Ida Belle gave Gertie a pointed look. I’m wondering how Harrison might translate Fortune’s message.

That’s easy. She wants him to know that Gomer is hosting a party and has a new girlfriend who seems suspicious, especially since Celia has met her and was impressed.
