About this ebook
COCAINE-The Great White Plague!
During the decade of the 1980s, a weed-like shrub threatened the soul of America.
No section of society could escape its ravaging clutches from the slums of the inner-city to the boardrooms of Wall Street.
Who could stop the smuggling of cocaine from the South American jungles to Main Street USA?
SATAN'S BRIDGE showcases the daunting efforts of law enforcement to slow Cocaine's spread from the Andean countries of Peru and Bolivia into the American heartland. The story also details the terrible dilemma of America's allies in the War on Drugs, the average South American police officer who must sometimes choose between violating his conscience or preserving his life.
This epic novel ranges from the crack houses of Northern Manhattan and the steamy jungles of Panama to the jagged mountains of Peru.
The story focuses on a small 10-man team of DEA agents and their Peruvian counterparts, the Guardia Civil, as they battle physical obstacles from dense jungle, ferocious thunderstorms and remote clandestine laboratories.
The team must also confront ruthless drug lords in a battle of wits to combat the Narcos ingenious smuggling and heartless disregard for human suffering.
The chief villain in the story, El Gorilla, is seemingly immune from any effort to arrest him due to his terror tactics against police and, ironically, his charitable endeavors to help the poor in the garbage dumps of Lima, which complicate the mission.
A rare opportunity arises when Peru is willing to extradite the notorious El Gorilla to the US, but how could he be arrested? El Gorilla lives on a mountain redoubt surrounded by dense jungle and raging streams.
The team decides to embark on a daring raid involving a ground team to trek through the mountainous jungle and an airmobile assault to seal off El Gorilla's numerous riverine escape routes.
Can this small team successfully hike through the tremendous obstacles facing them and capture the elusive El Gorilla at his jungle fortress?
Satan's Bridge was written by a 25-year veteran DEA agent who served in both Peru and Bolivia during this time period.
