JUAN JOSÉ MARTÍNEZ D’AUBUISSON is a Salvadoran socio-cultural anthropologist committed to understanding violence in Central America. His uncle was one of Latin America’s most notoriously brutal military officers during the 1980s. Juan José’s mother and his father founded an NGO that works with marginalized children and young people in El Salvador. Both his brothers are journalists, and they have all worked together on a number of different books.

The book is really good, the stories seem very familiar to me because I'm Salvadoran, but the translation is not very good. If you can get it in spanish then it's five stars, but this english translation is full of inaccuracies (a footnote states that Izalco is a municipality in the eastern department of La Union, that is simply not true). Still, I give it four stars because you should totally get this book in its original language, spanish
